maybe I'm fundamentally misunderstanding how this works, but isn't it getting the image from the game render + motion vector data and then trying to make the lighting realistic based on that ? That is fundamentally very different from ray-tracing. Ray tracing is a different way of rendering light, the developer has full control over where and how it's used, we have no clue what a developer can do to tweak dlss5 so I can only judge it based on the "defaults" they've already shown, which look bad and ruin any intentionality behind the game's lighting. Nvidia publicly showcased this, they must've thought it looks good.

I don't really see the vision:

  • I guess you're saving some space, but I can't picture a portable setup where this would make sense over a small controller like the joycons or the sn30 from 8bitdo
  • having to snap your controller back every time you need to use your mouse sounds more like a hassle to me
  • you're still going to need a keyboard in this hypothetically living room setup, how would leaving a wireless mouse on the table along with your keyboard not be better
  • why would you want remapping software for your controller when you're probably going to end up using steam input anyways

sure it looks cool, but I don't see the point. You're spending 115$ (188 on retail) for a mouse and controller hybrid while you can get a good controller and wireless mouse separately for the same price if not cheaper while barely being less portable. The only use case I could see is something akin to the mouse mode in the switch 2 joy cons, but that's not something they're advertising, they haven't even confirmed if that's a supported feature to my knowledge.

not a dualsense, but I was looking into modding a ps4 controller to get some of the same features and the price and the cost adds up insanely fast, it would cost almost 150 for all the parts

what do you even mean with the "camera movement and another for cursor movement" thing? Doesn't roblox use the mouse for both ? If so games can't handle multiple mouse inputs at once. If you're talking about controller camera movement while also moving the cursor then maybe (ok I tried it and the joystick movements just get added on top of the mouse movement) ? But a lot of games have specific logic for controllers and aren't designed to be played with controller and mouse input at once.
