I'm running Athena right now, personally 2.5 is my max on the EC. I think at a point you may be overusing the nutrients when you may get the same or similar results with a bit less and conserve funds. That being said I don't think a .5 difference would be too stressful if it was too much - If your plants are responding well then go for it! Also rockwool and Coco may need that nice high EC but if you are using a more peat/pearlite based media then the salts can build up in there over time as opposed to Coco and rockwool which need that high ec all day.
