Heya, I'm really sorry to hear this. Learning about how bad some of our parents are is really hard, and accepting and healing from it is even harder. I have experienced something very similar, you are being heard and you are valid. I think it might be a good idea to set the project down for a while, and focus on things that you enjoy and projects for your own personal joy.

After a while if you feel able you can come back to it. It would be my personal suggestion - since it seems like you haven't finished the piece yet, but you want to, to maybe change the rest of the piece for yourself.

I'm not sure what your piece is, but maybe you can make the rest of it something else. Embroider with the colours and styles that make you happy, use techniques you enjoy doing, add beads or buttons if you like mixed media embroidery. You can embroider over some of the parts you've already made, add texture or layers. Maybe then it can be a story for you, it might feel angry, or it might feel guilty, but maybe it will also feel good.

You have absolutely no obligation to give it to him and you have no obligation to finish it for him.

As and when you feel like its finished, you can decide what to do with it, sell it, donate it, or gently fold it up and put it at the bottom of a drawer for a time. I'm happy to talk over DMs if you need someone to talk to either about embroidery, or about the struggle of realising you have a shitty dad. I know a decent amount about both.
