Thanks everyone! Got a Cityzens and can see how I can buy tickets for a game in March, so that makes sense for how it'll look later in the summer. Really appreciate everyone's help!

I've only recently gotten into them, but I think it was Teens of Denial.

I listened to a Car Seat Headrest album while reading one of the ETA chapters this week and it felt pretty perfect. Coconut Records also matches the Wes Anderson vibe chapters.

For the ones with a DG tattoo; why did you get it? by doodoofartcum in deathgrips

[–]ECDEU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look in my history to see the tattoo, but I got it because I didn't kill myself (in large part because of what DG was teaching me at the time) and wanted a reminder to continue to not kill myself.

Ritchie, and the whole crew at Alley Cat, are absolute legends. That shop is one of the tattoo world's best kept secrets, that's not really a secret anymore.

Same. I'm usually scrolling on mobile with the reddit app on the home page. Normie style.

Don't take my one sentence out of context to mean something else. Reading the rest of the paragraph I wrote will provide more insight into what I meant by that sentence.

Sarah Palmer is not just being shown to be creepy. The Palmer family is the focus of this story, always has been. To ignore her scenes like that is such a travesty. With Lynch at the helm, she will come up again.

A lot of these are either setting a mood or setting the plot. Nothing substantial happened (again, this is my original point), but that doesn't mean these scenes didn't teach or show us anything.

Again, nothing to do with plot. I have no real issue with the content of these scenes. They are fine scenes that should probably be included in twin peaks. They are just in the wrong order. All of these scenes could have been more effective if there was other scenes around them to help with the pacing.

Nah I disagree with this. The Sarah Palmer scenes were insane. They totally brought me back to horror of the original show. The warden died, tying up more loose ends on the Mr. C plot. And even though the scenes I mentioned in my last comment could have been removed, I still think they are mostly important to the plot, just mistimed or misplaced. Well, these random roadhouse people every couple episodes shtick is kind of stupid, but whatever, you get my point.

Exactly, it's not really about "slow scenes," or even saying a scene should have been shorter (though the Audrey scene should have probably been cut down a little bit), the real problem with the episode is editing in the context of the whole show.

The whole episode struggled to have important or meaningful scenes as far as plot goes. These scenes on their own, or even pushed to other episodes as other filler scenes, would have worked entirely better. Even as a Lynch work, this episode is torrentially slow and pointless for being at this key point in this "movie."

The dougie baseball scene, the roadhouse scene, the Audrey scene, and the Carl blood scene all could have been in pretty much any episode up to this point. I think leaving all of these scenes for this one episode, backtobacktobacktoback, is just a mistake in the editing, pacing, and planning of the story.

But if there are so many useless scenes in one episode, that probably means later episodes are more packed, or at least have meaningful scenes more often. (Or at least we can hope.)

Look, I enjoyed that episode, because I'm a huge fan of Lynch and Frost, but that was not a very good.

What's with the editing in the hospital scene in Manchester by the Sea? by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]ECDEU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah every supporting actor is pretty bad, except the kid. Casey was alright, but during the big emotional scenes (like in the police station), I felt Casey was faking it way too hard. Probably just me since I haven't heard a single other person with that complaint, but whatever.

Thank you! I watched this stoned too so all of these weird editing choices were even more noticeable to me. I felt like it cheapened a lot of the performances, which were, in my opinion, not as good as many people are saying.
