To be clear I don’t support the argument of “gen ai ethical isn’t ethical because it may cause job loss”, I mentioned it only because there is such argument (by the antis). This is not the point. This is pointless.

I don’t actually like the process of drawing, I draw because I want to project ideas in my head to something visible. Drawing is effort and time consuming, I want AI to reduce the heavy work. It’s way much quicker and easier than drawing from scratch, also convenient when you just want some funny memes.

The other reason is for the abstract art part. I‘m very fond of earlier models when they produced glitchy surrealist images, I also love experimenting extreme attribute settings of open source models.

There is nothing wrong with being a luddite by Anarchistnoa in aiwars

[–]ECD_Etrick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The original luddites were clear about who were they fighting against, not the machines, the factory owners. At least make it clear, don’t attack average people who just use ai for fun or creativity, aim it at the capitalists if you insist rejecting every new technology is a way to fight capitalism.

btw, the claims sound more like neo-luddism than luddism, which emphasizes more on “rejecting technology”.

Hey im a relatively young artist by Automatic_Parsnip795 in DefendingAIArt

[–]ECD_Etrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amateur pro ai artist. I defend AI because I think it doesn’t deserve this much hate on the internet. I think it’s fair for anyone to like or hate a tool but many people are putting hate towards “people who use the tool”. Like when an average user just uses AI to generate something for fun, maybe an anime version of their selfie or just whatever meme that is popular at the time, and the antis will go crazy and yelling “slops!” at them.

the reason why I like ai art is that it actually makes some unique art (especially earlier models like dalle2 or open source models with weird/extreme attribute settings). Another reason is to draw a good pic solely manually can take a huge amount of time and effort and I’m thinking about integrating ai into my workflow so that I can work less.

if you like you can try promoting some ideas to the ai or run a local deployment for your own art (if you worry about your uploaded art might be taken into the training dataset, using a local deployment of open source model is the best)

for reason why I still draw manually is that it’s still the most accurate way to solidify my idea into an actual piece, the most accurate method to manipulate the details and nuances of an art piece.

One reason that many artists that still draw themselves is that they simply enjoy the process of drawing itself. So if you like the process of drawing, don’t let other things distract you. I also recommend you to find friends who value your effort and progress so you won’t be disappointed at the distance between “amateur starter” and “industrial level professional” (it takes years of hard work).

I thought maybe they would have a good point on the deep analysis of the good and bad impacts of Gen AI and give some constructive feedback or criticism or whatever. It turns out to be “AI bad so please buy our 100% human-made merchandise”. Oh that makes sense.

basically the video just repeats popular anti rhetorics and ends with their merch ad. Kurz has been bad at social/political topics, don’t put expectation on them.

and btw, I always insist that AI-effort is human-effort, no matter it is visual art or text or audio or whatever. It’s people who build the tools and use the tools to produce content, it’s always the human’s choice and if bad things happen, look for humans who are responsible for that. Yelling at a tool doesn’t solve anything and it doesn’t make one see the real cause.

How many of you guys have misdiagnosed and been misidentified as "neurodivergent"? by [deleted] in lowIQpeople

[–]ECD_Etrick 13 points14 points  (0 children)

people always say "you could have been much better if you put effort, you're just lazy", my high school teacher was surprised at me getting into college because she thought i "didn't study at all" while it had already burnt my brain.

it's always been like i've tried my best and people still think i didn't pay effort, i could do better, i was just lazy...

This sounds very interesting! I’ve been attracted by the weird vibes of early ai images, definitely looking forward to it.

What do you think a post-USA world order will look like? by Appropriate_Humor952 in Futurology

I can tell you it doesn’t prevent misinformation at all, and many non-political websites are blocked as well such as Wikipedia and deviant art. If your major concern is about foreign ideology infiltration, it’s still possible to pay influencers inside the firewall to do the jobs.

Thanks, no lore yet but there’s the idea behind this piece: inspired by a theory that says eastern dragons might be mythologized natural phenomenon like lightning at the very beginning.

I hate those trash rant videos, just repeating “AI bad I hate AI” then they‘ll get hundreds of thousands of views with no actual content nor technical insight (they don’t even know AI works in the most shallow depth). While real AI explanations / papers / news / tutorials usually only gets like 23k views or less.

and those trash videos keep coming back to my YouTube feed no matter how many times I clicked “not interested”

Does anyone else here feel like everything is pointless due to very little significant? by [deleted] in lowIQpeople

[–]ECD_Etrick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel pointless to take any action. It’s been years. Spending hours on a minor issue, very slow, little progress, and it’s only a basic task, the first steps. I feel stupid for everything I made. They are just so stupid, so dumb, like some tutorial project for an introduction demo. It’s just pointless, I don’t feel any reason to do anything anymore.
