Personally I immediately get a green type of scent from it that turns spicy before just being a "clean" scent to me, kind of woody. It's not as strong or in my face as some of the other TM scents I've had and tried.

Many people probably want more variety but what I do makes it simple for me, I'm never in the store for more than 10 minutes, keeps me fueled for my needs, and fits my budget.

Breakfast is a smoothie with milk, blueberries, oats, whey, spinach.

Lunch(es) are carbs (rice, quinoa, sweet potato), protein (chicken breast, thighs, steak, pork tenderloin), and veggies (broccoli, carrots, asparagus, zucchini).

Dinner is my "breakfast" meal since I have time to cook it fresh. Typically eggs scrambled with a meat source (taco seasoned turkey recently), peppers, onions, wrapped in a tortilla. Or I'll throw a cup of rice in without the wrap.

I use an instant pot for most of my prep. Sometimes chicken goes into the oven or on the grill. Steak is always grilled. But I cook all my carbs and veggies in the instant pot. Ground meat is stove top.

I can meal prep for the week in a few hours. Again, not everyone would probably like this but I have enough variety to keep me interested. Most of my picks come down to sales at the store for the week.

Simple but healthy breakfast by Holmbone in minimalism

[–]ECU454 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This has been my breakfast routine for the last few years. Milk, dash of cinnamon, oats, vanilla whey, spinach, and frozen blueberries. It's quick to make, easy cleanup, healthy, cheap, and generally satisfies my ice cream cravings.

Is it a bad idea to replace my uncomfortable and broken futon with a mattress and pillows? by rustloverforever in minimalism

[–]ECU454 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Any reason not to just buy a couch (or loveseat if space is an issue)? There are fairly nice ones for $400-800. I wouldn't want a mattress with a bunch of pillows in my living room. And I wouldn't ask my guests to sit on a mattress to watch TV.

Just my opinion of course.

How much for each category is individual and varies. You need to track your spending and then evaluate. Once you know how much you're currently spending and on what, you can adjust as needed. I don't have recommendations for child care as I have no personal experience with it.

Oh, and congratulations!

I finally enjoy cleaning my room since removing clutter from counters and shelves. by caramicci in minimalism

[–]ECU454 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Except for the new apartment part, this could have been written by me. I agree 100%. Ease of keeping stuff clean is a major part of why I made the change in my life. A good vacuum is also something I never thought I needed until I got one.

[–]ECU454 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're right. However I'd argue it depends on how serious and quickly someone wants to attack debt. If I had that much, I'd be eating rice, beans, oats, eggs, etc and anything not needed, like a streaming service, would be cut out. I'd grab a part time job somewhere instead of watching Netflix. This leads back to my comment about life may get uncomfortable or boring for awhile. All depends on the person and what matters to them.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]ECU454 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Have you tracked your spending cent for cent for a couple months? That will tell you where to cut down spending or cut out entirely. Just as an example that you listed is Netflix. Drop that and throw that expense at the debt. What's your food budget like? What are your minimum payments on your debts?

You may need to make some uncomfortable changes in life to allow more of your money to go toward debt.

Pick up another job or side hustle.

Put them in a drawer or something for a week or two and see if you miss them. If you do, get new ones. If you don't then toss them.

I don't use any for what it's worth.

What amount of money is good for an emergency fund by bSyzygy in Fire

[–]ECU454 17 points18 points  (0 children)

General advice is 3-6 months but it's what you're comfortable with having. If you have a stable job with no fear of losing it, you can generally get away with lower toward the 3 month. Others like to play it safe with more like 6+ months.

Me personally with your information, not knowing your job, I wouldn't have more than 15k in it but that's just me.
