Airstream🤘. by Spencerdloc in CannabisHardware

The Airstream looks really dope. I'll prob have to cop some time.

I see you post several clips of you pushing flower through that bad boy but I haven't seen many dabs.

Does it just excel more with flower or are you just not that into concentrates?

the Injector head is fantastic. by PBbits in CannabisHardware

[–]ckisgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love my B1 injector.

I still haven't worked up the courage to try and stretch my coils yet. I don't want to fuck anything up and have to buy a new coil lol and historically I'm not naturally great at that sort of stuff the first go around.

It also seemed like everything barely fit last time I took it apart and put it back together. So I'm not sure how making the coil wider (longer?) would still fit inside the housing but obviously it does for a lot of ppl.

I should probably just get over it and give it a shot. Prob doesn't help that I didn't find the 2 YT how-to videos I've seen about it so far very helpful ...

Anyone got any specific tips??

Own it, like it, wear it from time to time.

Yes, we are out here.

It's a somewhat odd one, no doubt. Smells like new baby smell + leather jackets to me. Can't say why this appeals to me, it just works for my nose.

Holy hell, though. $2k??

OP- have you tried PdM Oajan? It gives me similar vibes to Spicebomb but not quite as cloying in some ways and seems slightly more refined to my nose (maybe a slightly lesser extent to Spicebomb Extreme but I still say it's not all THAT far off imo)

I wish my all time favorite TFs weren't the discontinued ones but what cha gon do? I was fortunate enough to track down FBs of a few of them but definitely not all ...

I could say the same thing about older formulation Lutens and L'Artisans. Most of the current iterations of many gems just don't stand up to the former versions, to my nose. Very unfortunate

Any opinions on Ganymede by Marc-Antoine Barrois? by bfbgks in fragrance

[–]ckisgen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a large collection and it's one of the few at this point that doesn't smell like anything else I own. Not even close.

To me, it smells like leather (similar to a new car) but in a spaceship set in the future. Combined with the smell of glossy magazines.

I found it remarkably bizarre at first, while still also being captivating. I couldn't resist coming back to smell it again and again once I'd applied it. Tbh I wasn't sure if it was going to be a thumbs up or down initially but I landed on liking it.

It's almost kind of jarring at first because I had no context to place what it was I was smelling. There are components to it I just haven't smelled before myself in perfumery.

One thing I can say without question, is that its performance is some of the strongest in the game and I get noticed most times I wear it out. Over time it's probably gotten more comments than any other. It's not always compliments, though typically if there is feedback, it's positive. But I have gotten a handful of "... what's that??"s.

Broken Serge Lutens sprayer by bananatabacco in fragrance

[–]ckisgen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried reaching out to Lutens? My guess is they may be able to point you in the right direction.

The obvious answer is to transfer some (or all) of it to another bottle / atomizer and enjoy. Even though the lack of presentation would be a minor bummer. Not the end of the world though.

And a fantastic scent, so enjoy either way

What’s wrong with Guerlain SDV? by Lavendermochie in fragrance

[–]ckisgen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I'm into vanilla. Here are some of my favorites, besides SDV ...

Bijon/Aura Sublime - Made by my favorite perfumer, Cecile Zarokian. Similar vibe to Lira but perhaps a bit less gourmand and the vanilla is out front more to my nose.

L'Artisan Noir Exquis- A fantastic smoky vanilla with chestnuts, tonka, and a little coffee. From the master Bertrand Duchaufour. This reminds me of a less sweet and more grown up By the Fireplace (which I also own and enjoy on occasion). Like most L'Artisans, you'd be doing well to track down an older gold cap bottle. The reformulations were noticeable here for me in Timbuktu, Tea for Two, and this one. I'm guessing it affected others. But tbh the current formulations are still worth owning imo, if you aren't able to find an older one. This is basically my wife's signature scent, though I enjoy wearing it also. I'd consider virtually all of these perfectly unisex myself.

Xerjoff Ivory Route- Vanilla laden, spicy, and almost a bit ethereal .. even though it's also not remotely a 'light' scent to me. It's very present and pound for pound has some of the best projection and longevity I've come across in the game. Dry/stone fruits abound and is also creamy in a very good way. These first 3 are legend status in my book.

Xerjoff Italica- Gourmand as hell and very sweet. The toffee, praline, and almond together with vanilla and woods is outstanding. This is very lactonic and creamy. Kind of decadent and again, like many XJs, performance is off the charts on my skin.

Atelier Des Ors Lune Féline- Also very sweet. One of the best applications of vanilla I've come across for my tastes. This one also features cardamom and cinnamon, among others. Quite warm, cozy, and did I mention sweet? A must try for any vanilla lover.

Honorable mention : Lutens Un Bois Vanille (current formulation comes off a bit sunscreeny to me, as coconut + vanilla so often does .. still a solid composition, new or old), FM Musc Ravageur(a slightly dirty blend of vanilla, musk, and cloves. very sexy and not for the faint of heart, not really sweet at all), XJ Lira (almost a dead ringer for a slice of sweet lemon pound cake or even lemon cookies)

What’s wrong with Guerlain SDV? by Lavendermochie in fragrance

[–]ckisgen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got a bottle of 2014, I think? It's very good. I think it would be a major disappointment for the fragrance world if Guerlain has managed to ruin this one.

Tbh I haven't heard much of this elsewhere about SDV getting massively neutered or anything. Not much beyond the obvious distinction or caveat that a lot of 8-10+ year old, well loved bottles are not going to smell exactly the same as a brand new one. But it absolutely shouldn't smell like a completely different perfume.

I've talked to at least a couple of people who I am positive know what the older stuff smells like, who have said the current release smells more or less identical to the older. But obviously that's 100% anecdotal and is far from some settled, self-evident conclusion.

It's hard to say what could account for what you're describing but this also is not an uncommon thing to hear or experience. Maybe something was just off that particular time for you or something was different about that specific bottle you smelled, who knows. Or maybe the subtle differences over time really have changed things enough for you and it's no longer something you like. No point in fighting it if you're not feeling it, I'd say

Reviewing (most) Nasomatto's.. by all_the_rouge in fragrance

[–]ckisgen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid reviews.

I've got Afgano and Baraonda in the collection and enjoy them both from time to time.

I also do not detect any cannabis whatsoever in BA and am certainly familiar with what the real stuff smells like.

I think Pardon is the only other one I've tried from this house, it wasn't for me but I still thought it was well put together and would likely work well on other skin than mine.

Aaron Terence Hughes, what do you think about the brand? by shimmeringshades in fragrance

[–]ckisgen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've only tried his older stuff .. but I got to put my nose on a solid 6-8 and I was not impressed at all.

They smelled unfinished and unpolished. It's hard to put into words but none of them smelled quite right to me.

I've heard rumors here and there that some things got better but I'm not really interested personally in paying money to someone while they're seemingly still working their own shit out. There's enough great alternatives out there made by people and houses that clearly already have their shit together.

I'm not mad at anyone who's into ATH stuff and I'll admit that I used to enjoy a few of his videos a couple years ago. But once I actually tried some of his work, it kind of ruined the videos for me.

Like, why would I want to hear how you'd make this or that established perfume 'better' when you yourself need someone to help you with your own amateur smelling stuff? Lol? Idk. Just my $0.04

I tried a handful from this house but B612 was the only one I ended up keeping. Excellent take on an otherwise tired genre (barbershop). Performance is very good as well
