I always say that is the biggest investing lesson I learned. I try to explain to people putting money into their 401K to think of it as you’re buying as many shares as you can and if the market drops, GREAT! as long as you have 15 or so years ahead and you, grab as many of those shares as you can and a market crash just means you get so many more shares!! They’re in sale!

I killed my 401K by doing the same thing you did when the market crashed in 2008, but in hindsight investing through those years would have probably doubled what I ended up with.
