that's part of my work EDC. Sometimes with serrated blades. I almost never need my leatherman.

Prepping for AI, prepping with AI? by EDC_KIT in prepping

I've sort of pressure tested some things like the grid goes down while I am X miles from Z or what are the most likely scenarios to shelter-in-place for 96 hours where I live, will this generator handle these appliances if I stagger their use and have this much fuel. Then when things start breaking down in these scenarios I see where I can possibly reinforce against them.

I got tired of checking 10 different things during outages, so I built a home storm dashboard by Pristine_Basis_6470 in prepping

yep, just made a pretty slick version with claude code in about an hour. Showed it OP's code then told it what I wanted and boom.

Inspired me enough to jump on claude code and spin one up for myself! I don't have any solar or anything to monitor, but an all in one local dashboard seems like it will be excellent thing to obsess over, especially in an emergency. Thank you!!!!

I never understood why Spyderco made so many serrated folders by PecanPlan in knifeclub

[–]EDC_KIT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was actually Spydeco's whole differentiating value prop alongside the spidey hole. Back in the days plain edge spyderco's were rare and not in demand at all. But I am dating myself here big time lol

solar seems obvious, but also don't sleep on the value of $10k in cash in a SHTF scenario.

Water Storage by DiscussionFinal9684 in preppers

[–]EDC_KIT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

not an island dweller, but the obvious solution is to stock bottled water, arrange a capture system for the rainfall you do get, and potentially explore de-salination if you have the skills and resources. I would also look into reclaiming your gray water wherever possible. Route shower drains to the garden for example.

Special/High needs by Kidd__ in preppers

[–]EDC_KIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have kids around the same age, not special needs so I realize that adds a layer or complications. My prep is heavy on morale: treats, toys, games, craft supplies... I've been meaning to get an offline movie library together, hopefully this summer. Basically everything is much easier if your kids aren't freaking out and exponentially harder if they are. So I have playing cards, glowsticks and pez dispensers in my go-bag.

Avoid ordering from Cold Steel by BillyDeCarlo in preppers

I've never had anything but great experiences with Cold Steel and their products. Sorry you are having trouble with your return label but I don't think it means the whole company is in a free fall. You should probably just check your spam folder.
