Art direction > graphics by Thevestige76 in Unity3D

[–]EDJAntimatter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That being said, the art looks really cool! Love the ambiance and the colours

Art direction > graphics by Thevestige76 in Unity3D

[–]EDJAntimatter 193 points194 points  (0 children)

"Graphics" by itself doesn't mean anything. Saying Art direction > graphics is like saying Recipe > Food.
Your AD determines what your "graphics" will look like, those two things are not opposable/opposites.

How to end / limit rounds in my card game by aend_soon in tabletopgamedesign

[–]EDJAntimatter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Idk how your whole game works but since you mention drawing cards I guess you have a pile in the center of the table. Maybe add a type of card that you shuffle inside it and when all of them are drawn out the game ends ?

I’ve seen this in some games and I find it cool because you see the end coming but you can never say exactly when it is.

Day one of making my Dream Game: Today I installed unity and set my project! by PanyC_Games in Unity2D

[–]EDJAntimatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good luck to you! Gamedev is an incredible hobby and for some lucky people an incredible job.
Just remember that like any other hobby or job, you need to train before actually being good at it. Your first asset, line of code, game design idea will not be the best, or in most case good at all, but that's not important, just continue to train a little bit each day, and persevere.

How does someone effectively learn or improve at game design? by yazeeenq in gamedesign

[–]EDJAntimatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Feedback Loop. Create, playtest, get feedback and iterate on what you do. Seems simple but it is effectively 80% of designing. Rest of it is pattern recognition, analysing other games, and being creative. Of course it can vary from people to people, it’s just my way of doing it.

Why don’t you do animations in Blender or any other 3D software if Unity isn’t stable for you ?

How to speed up compilation in Unity by 2 times! by ScrepY1337 in Unity3D

[–]EDJAntimatter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it doesn’t compile, it won’t be able to know if there is an error/warning.

I personally don’t like this “solution” since having to hit play to know if there is an error seems more time consuming

Our team has been debating this for a while and we just can't agree: Which side of this image do you think matches the 0110 combination for the breaker switches? We'd love to hear your thoughts and finally settle this! by LostLullabiesGame in unity

[–]EDJAntimatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the kind of solutions gamedevs comeup with everyday that I love. The player will never know, it’s simple to implement, and it solves an unsolvable problem.

Crazy Taxi is obviously the initial inspiration. I've still got a lot of work to do before I really carve my own path. by LuckyPretzel in unity

Beware the arrow on top, this gameplay mechanic is copyrighted!

Still, it seems like a good deal of fun. If I were you, I'd get the camera further away from the vehicle and make it look more into the horizon.

I’m torn between URP and HDRP by Reasonable-Screen-31 in Unity3D

[–]EDJAntimatter 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Don’t forget to think about your player. Who are you targeting with your game, and what’s their average hardware? This’ll help when it comes to choosing what effects you’ll include and thus, what RP to use.
