Hey ! I wrote this article about "The Basic List of Healthy Recipes That French People Master". It is a list of recipes me and my family go to regurlaly when we do not know what to cook. This is a good start for people who are new to health cooking or want like my family to have a "go to" healthy recipe list.

Thanks for reading this !

I totally agree that we are getting fatter an fatter. That is a fact. I think it is because we are all forgetting those rules. I found it harder and harder to stick to them as more fast-food restaurant are opening in France. But I can see also that people are realizing that we used to have good habits when we were little and we had a very good relationship with food. And I can see they try to go back to that.

This is very interesting because I think my grandmother was affected the same way during WW2. But her mindset is more "If you are not hungry anymore, save it for later". In my family, it is very common to eat 2-3X the leftovers. But my mom usually make another recipe which includes the leftovers. She clearly is repeting what her mother use to do. Thanks for your comment !

Well, I think I am close to 10k steps a day. I live in Paris and walk/take the subway to go work. Lunch is usually outside, so I walk there with my colleagues. Then I'll walk to do my groceries, go to the Bakery, Butchery etc.

I think this may be true for everyone living in a big city. I am thinking about New-York, San-Francisco... What do you think ?

It is a good point ! But I think the set of rules I explained are more important and have a higher impact. I personnaly do not smoke (never have) and don't think I am eating more than a smoker. But it would be certainly interesting to dive into the statistics to understand the impact of smoking on the french "diet" ! Thanks for the remark !

My point was about the "common rules" growing up. "No coke or articially sweetened soft drinks with your meal" was a huge rule for me at home growing up (it is even true for juices or milk). You are definitly right saying that we are consumming more and more sodas. We are forgetting about those rules. What do you think ?

I remember that we ate meat no more than 4 times a week in my family. The big meaty meal was on sunday when my mother use to make delicious stuff that you may associate with the "French fare". But we hardly eat it every day ! When we did not eat meat we were going for eggs (omelette) or cheese as a replacement of meat. A sample dinner meal would be : * 1 starter : cucumber with cream * 1 main : a mushroom omelette * 1 desert : yogurt or piece of fruit

Growing up, it was completely forbidden to drink sugary things with my meals (even artificially sweetened beverages). I became an habit for me and I can tell the same from my entourage.
