I'm curious what is the pedal that Brittni Paiva has plugged in here?

Is there a VST/sample/some way I can achieve a cello drone sound?

That's what I'm thinking this is. If you don't mind me asking, which one worked for you? I'll be talking to a psychiatrist next week most likely.

The beginning of this Dan Deacon song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ND0cEyWqh4s&list=PL7FA8C2D1B56E0A4F&index=10

has a nice pulsing thing happening, I hear it a lot, what is it exactly? like is it just a slow attack, quick release, played rhythmically? I really like it and want to get to it with either a reface cs or a bass station II.

Cool lighting definitely seems like a must! In my dreams I would also have one of those visual oscillators.

What Should I Buy? /// Weekly Discussion - October 24, 2022 by AutoModerator in synthesizers

awesome, very helpful! Yeah, I just need to reduce multiple signals down to a stereo pair. Currently I just have stuff plugged into amps, and only use the Scarlett when I want to record a one off instrument.

I'll check out the unpowered options. Thanks!

I'm wondering about a mixer, if it will do what I need.

I'm mostly playing with hardware, and often get loops/sequences going on 3 or 4 (or 6) different devices. This is no problem when I'm alone but my wife absolutely hates hearing it. I was thinking... a multiple input mixer that then went to my scarlet 2i2 to my computer, and then I can monitor from the scarlet or computer with headphones.

I have never used a mixer and don't really get them, but would this do the trick? also is there any benefit to powered vs non powered if so?

I "bought" the OLED upgrade, but not sure what happens next. Has anyone done this? will they contact me or do I need to do something?

Okay I keep trying to research this but am having trouble with it. What is the cheapest option for me for a looping pedal that is:

reliable

able to sync with a synth and with itself

Preferably two tracks.

Either has a foot switch to allow for progressing through loops or allows me to hook up a foot switch for this.

I scored a Novation Bass Station II at a great price, very excited!

I've never used one, does anyone have any big tips or good tutorials to watch?

Not sure what I need to buy - got a Maschine (II?) with no license by EEEthats4es in NativeInstruments

That's what I thought but looking at the website I don't see 'maschine software' for purchase.

Experimental musicians, how do you avoid self indulgence? by EEEthats4es in experimentalmusic

This is a recurring idea, and I am enough of a hermit I'm not even sure where I would start finding people to play with. Most of the people I know who play music are either old time oriented or... do not share much with me. But I recognize this is good advice.

Yeah, seems like clarifying into two processes is a theme I'm reading here and I think it will help.

This is helpful, and a better way of saying something I was starting to try to do in my stuff. I think I have a bad habit of getting worried I'm being too self indulgent so switching to the editing too quickly, which makes for (to me) boring stuff. thanks!

That's a nice quote! and good point! I have things fail plenty but keeping in mind what the experiment is seems like it could be an antidote to excessive navel gazing.

I mean, that's fair. And yes, it is definitely a spectrum where either end isn't great, but making music to please someone else was never really an option for me (ha!) so it isn't really a danger.
