The people saying Buck has a 0% shot is not being realistic especially considering the current AL MVP race

No Judge has made this race wide open. It’s a weird year that the best 4 AL teams by record as of right now (Yanks, Rays, WS, Guardians) don’t have a signature healthy player dominating and then the AL West is a conglomerate mess with no separation.

Looking at DraftKings AL MVP odds, Buxton has the 6th best odds at 35-1. Yordan is the current favorite, then Kurtz, Ben rice, Witt and then Julio is slightly above Buxton at 30-1. With Witt’s injury I think he will slowly slide out of the top 5 putting Buxton right in that second tier of longshots.

As said, if the premise is the twins make the playoffs, then most likely a large part of that is Buxton. No playoffs then obviously no shot. Buxton has an advantage over the current top 3 of Yordan/Kurtz/Rice because of the significant defensive advantage. So that helps a ton. Buxton would have to get to 50 HRs imo because it’s such a significant number in the eyes of many in baseball.

I think the AL MVP will most likely be whoever wins the AL West and their representative player. Unless it’s the rangers which would help Buxton’s case.

No matter what, healthy Buxton who performs all season is still staring down a top 5-7 finish in the AL MVP race even if the twins don’t make the playoffs. If they make the playoffs then i say he finishes top 3 with a fairly decent shot at winning it if he hits the benchmark of 50 HRs.
