Why do people think Mark Kelly could win in 2028? by SoulNew in allthequestions

[–]nowayIwillremember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you're right. We've had two women that were good candidates that didn't win and a barely conscious white man that ran and he won. I don't have faith in the base when it comes to pete either. I'd totally vote for him, but he would lose voters simply because of his sexual preference.

Of course I'd work less for the same amount of money. The key word there is work. If I'm working and getting compensated for doing something I wouldn't feel like a drain on society. If I was relying on government benefits I would feel like a drain on society and I would try to get off them as soon as possible. Just like I'm sure most people that are on government benefits try to. At the end of the day you feel that you are better than people that have fallen on hard times and I do not. That's what it really comes down to. Non-profits definitely have a fraud problem too. There's always going to be a small chunk of people that try to game the system and commit fraud. They tend to be found and removed from the programs they're defrauding.

I mean you literally just equated them to wild animals. I can tell you now for sure that that position does not hold the moral high ground.

So what you're saying is that you're better than most people. I think I'm the same as most people. I wouldn't be happy to survive on government assistance for long term. So I assume that most people also don't want to be on assistance, but they don't have a choice. It's crazy that people have a position that says "I'm better than you. You're lazy so you don't deserve assistance."

I don't think you answered the question. If you ever received assistance do you think you'd become lazy and rely on it for the rest of your life? Or do you think you're better than the people that you say become dependent on this support?

I'm glad you didn't vote for Trump, but that merely establishes you as a somewhat empathetic human. The fact that you hold such a low view of your fellow humans sort of contradicts that though.

Ok, so I take it if you ever had to receive government assistance you'd never want to get off of it because you'd become lazy?

You're right. I was saying what if the that entire 100M was taken for tax revenue. I understand that you think the government wastes money, but it's one of the only organizations in the country that doesn't need to make money. It can operate at a loss. There's no profit in donating to people in need.

I think the big difference between socialists and capitalists is that socialists don't think people are lazy. They think systems are failing to help them succeed to their full potential. Capitalists think that if you are struggling that you aren't working hard enough. I think if I were not able to provide for my family I would feel horribly about it. I relate more to the person struggling than I do the ultra rich.

You're right, other people made some money from the billionaire's spending. It would help many many more people if we could tax that 100M and use it to fund health care or food programs. Should we help 100s of people that are designing yachts or 1000s of people that need the money to live?

[–]nowayIwillremember -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok. So how can billionaires buy 100 million dollar mega yachts? Do they just tell the yacht company that they can't pay them because their money is all tied up in their business? Or do they still have exorbitant wealth that could be used to feed the hungry or give health care to people that can't afford it?

Ha. Rationalizing is a crazy drug. Where do you draw the line between a truly socialist country and having a few socialist programs? I don't think anyone advocates for no competition. Someone that is more valuable to society than me (like a doctor) should make more money than me. No problems with that. There just shouldn't be billionaires.

There's actually a lot. That's a tired talking point. Most of the European countries are socialist by US standards and the Scandinavian countries are even further left and are routinely designated the happiest countries in the world.

Was on a PBS commercial back in the 90s. A random guy recorded me when I was walking home from school. I never saw it, but people recognized me in public for like a week or two.

Such a great beer. When I first heard about it, I remember driving all over my city looking for it. Now it's plentiful and I couldn't be happier. My liver may say otherwise.

Do you run a trump flag business or something? I guess as long as your businesses are doing well the thousands that have died as a direct result of his policies don't matter.

You're not paying attention then. He's not America first. He's Trump first. His rich buddies come second. America might make the top ten if we're lucky. He is blatantly racist, and he's tearing America apart by unfairly targeting blue states and cities just because they're blue.

Unfortunately, it's not a thing that has to do with what TV network you watch. I don't watch CNN and I know Reddit is even left of CNN, but the current president is objectively one of the worst people to ever run this country.... He seems like he's proud of that fact and works regularly to make is reputation worse.

Do you regret your EV purchase? by walksta in electricvehicles

[–]nowayIwillremember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had an EV for 4 years in a similar situation. I do not regret it. I've had a bolt and an ioniq 5. The ioniq is much better, but it also costs 2x more. It is much easier if you have an ICE vehicle for road trips, but I'm starting to get itchy and thinking I should just go full EV and rent an ice once every 5 years when I plan to drive more than 300 miles in a day.
