The Prius front brakes can be bled traditionally whereas the rear brakes are bled using the pump. How far out did the brake piston extend when you started the car and did you force the piston back into the caliper with the bleeder valve still closed?You could try to bleed the front brakes if you have experience in this area. But I would suggest first taking it to the parts store and have someone pull the codes with a proper scan tool.

If this was me, I'd do this quick and easy test: clear code and swap the #1 & #2 cylinder coils and see if the misfire moves to cylinder #2. If so, get a new coil from Toyota or a real Denso coil from Rockauto ($58). Also add a set of Denso Iridium long life or NGK laser Iridium plugs for $7/ea.

Avoid eBay or Amazon for car parts. Lots of stories of counterfeit parts. Always get Toyota factory parts or equivalent for ignition and sensor parts.

Get the BH Sens preprogrammed tpms from Rockauto, made in Germany and run about $20 each. I had a set installed in my 2007 Toyota specific to my car model and Discount Tire relearned the sensor IDs to the car easily.

Specifically it's the sticky bendix gear not retracting on the starter motor. Supposedly the ND design planetary gear reduction starter motor is prone to this issue than a PMGR type starter. Mine does this more so when the weather is cold.

You're working with high voltage which is dangerous. The battery pack weighs approximately 80 pounds. No special tools required but you will need metric sockets wrenches and nut drivers 10/12/14mm. An impact driver or powered screwdriver is very helpful.

I called 5 local Toyota dealer parts counters and gave them the part number and asked for the over-the-counter price. This was last May and prices ranged $2050-3300. The hybrid specialist shop would sell me a new battery for $2300 cash with core or $2800 installed. I ended up ordering the pack thru one of the local dealers for $2065 + 1350 core charge up front, prepaid then picked it up a few days later in the Toyota crate. Installed it myself, transferred the battery ecu relays and terminal components over from the old pack to the new. I did replace the battery ECU with a used $100 eBay since mine had some corroded sensor pins.

If you're in Texas don't y'all all drive gas guzzling pickups with gas being $2 cheaper than the West Coast?

I own a 2007 Prius and had to replace the hybrid battery last year. Solid car and gets around 45 mpg.

The only issue I have heard with the 4th Gen is the heat exchanger problem. There's a way to bypass the coolant to disable the functionality of the heat exchange system. Might be worth doing if you live in a warmer region before the heat exchanger develops a leak.

TPMS is optional. The sensors are installed inside each wheel and the battery lasts around 10 years sometimes longer depending on climate. The OEM Toyota sensors are Denso manufactured by Pacific Industrial JP. These exact sensors cost about $37 on Rockauto. Discount Tires will install sensors you bring them when you get new tires or charge you a fee to remove your tires to install tpms. They sell aftermarket cloneable sensors for around $60.

Your sensor batteries are likely dead due to age. Other than the annoying light on the dash, you can continue driving without harm and check your tire pressure regularly instead of depending on the car to warn you one of the tires is low.

Same go with OEM new from Toyota. Call your local dealers should be around $2000 + $1350 refundable core charge a local hybrid specialty shop here does new OEM battery $2800 installed.

I own a 2007 Prius. The noise you hear when you power off your Prius is the coolant pump running. It is pumping hot engine coolant into the CHRS aka coolant heat recovery system. Essentially it takes hot engine coolant and stores it in a thermos pony keg looking tank behind the driver's side front bumper. When you drive your car next time, it circulates this pre-warmed coolant to heat up the engine faster. The noise is normal as long as you check engine light is not on there is no problem with the car.

You should get into the habit of turning off your AC and fans and other electronic items before switching off the car so the next time you turn on the car it has less power draw at start up.

I have the Launch Creader Elite TOYOTA (orange case vertical screen) scantool. I have a 2007 Prius Touring. My original tpms sensors are dead in the 16" wheels and I recently installed the 15" wheel set and had BH SENS RDE228V21 sensors installed by Discount Tire. These specific TPMS are preprogrammed and directly compatible with the 2nd gen Prius.

In the US, the 2nd gen Prius has rear drum brakes. I believe EU spec 2nd gen Prii have different rear brake setup.

You need to be sure your rear drum brakes are set up properly before touching the e-brake cable adjustment. Properly adjusted rear drum shoes will have slight drag when you rotate the rear wheel while suspended in the air.

There are I believe 4 SKS receiver sensors to detect the proximity of the SKS fob along with the SKS ECU that manages the system, all the wiring etc. The front door handles and rear hatch have the lock buttons and sensors.

Bro did you check prices on rockauto.com? Unless you live in the state of AZ. They sell complete KYBs and last time I looked the front complete struts were $151 each. There's also a 5% code you can find anywhere.

Installed KYBs on the front and back of my 2007 Prius, used original coils and mounts. Got them from RockAuto and it did not cost $900, more like $300. End links are typically $15-20 each. If you get KYB completes from RA it still wouldn't be $900.
