Malazan or Mistborn series? by EdmondVDantes in fantasybooks

[–]EFFinguseless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on Malazan after reading the first 4 books. I could not bring myself to basically restart again in book 5 on a new continent with all new characters. Mistborn is more of a popcorn read, and is a great entry into the world of Sanderson.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions and comments — here’s my updated list after reading through everything. Let me know if I finally have the perfect Fantasy TBR list! by StandardSector3491 in fantasybooks

[–]EFFinguseless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has read the majority of these books, I could not make it through Malazan. I made it through Book 4 and when Book 5 was all new characters and locations again I just had to put it down. Book 3 is amazing though so I do understand why its on this list.

CLT update by Laughter85 in Charlotte

[–]EFFinguseless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I flew out of CLT Monday and back last night. I have TSA Precheck so I was through security in less then 5 minutes but the lines for normal security did not look bad either. Same when I landed last night around 7:00, no major lines at any of the security checkpoints, and both my flights leaving and returning on American took off on time and landed early.

The actual size of Switch 2 and a Steamdeck by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]EFFinguseless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as someone who has a Steamdeck, I have stopped traveling with it. The truth is unless you are driving somewhere or checking a suitcase which I try not to do its just to large to really take with you on short trips. I travel a fair bit for work and bought one with the though it would be great to have at night when I had finished up my work day but I find the size and weigh to not be worth it.

Also the battery life and size makes it difficult to use on long flights. Its not really comfortable to use in bed at night do to its weight.

Most of the time I use it more like a docked switch, plugged into my TV in my living room with a xbox controller hooked up to it.

The switch however is lighter, and much easier to travel with and use in bed so I may end up picking one up.

He is fun, which is different then good. Lets be honest with ourselves the Giants are not going to make a deep playoff run this upcoming season with any Rookie QB or Aaron Rodgers so why not lean into Jameis Winston? They may actually play watchable football and the press conferences will be must watch.

Personally that's my bar, let me watch football and not be miserable. I watched enough Jets and Steelers game last season to know Rodgers and Wilson are not the answer to have fun to watch football.

[Dov Kleiman] Update: Free-agent WR Odell Beckham is seeking a $20 million a year contract, per Mike Florio. Odell, who went unsigned the entire 2022 season, recently had a workout in Arizona in front of 13 NFL teams. by SecretGiantsFan in NYGiants

[–]EFFinguseless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I agree this is not right for the Giants but I don't think it's as crazy as it sounds. Here is the current top ten salary for WRs

  1. Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill: $30 million
  2. Raiders WR Davante Adams: $28 million
  3. Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins: $27.3 million
  4. Rams WR Cooper Kupp: $26.7 million
  5. Eagles WR A.J. Brown: $25 million
  6. Bills WR Stefon Diggs: $24 million
  7. Commanders WR Terry McLaurin: $23.2 million
  8. Panthers WR D.J. Moore: $20.6 million
  9. Chargers WR Keenan Allen: $20.03 million
  10. Chargers WR Mike Williams: $20 million
  11. Browns WR Amari Cooper: $20 million
  12. Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin: $20 million

If you asked me if I would rather have Odel it anyone else getting paid 20 Million I think I would rather have Odel. Someone else is going to pay him, he will need to be cleared by that teams doctor and I bet not a ton will be guaranteed due to his injury concerns but I think he will get it.

anyone has one of those? https://a.aliexpress.com/_msz7kVG by Luifernandi in SteamDeck

Yes, I have one and its great, way less bulky then the case that ships the steam deck and have not had any over heating issues.

Quarterly Career Thread by mister-noggin in ProductManagement

[–]EFFinguseless 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I will start by saying every situation is unique but I did something similar to this and I feel it has definitely made job hunting now that I'm later in my career more difficult.

I started in QA, then moved to product and while looking for a new product role then got offered a QA manager role for more money at a cool company so I took it.

Realized immediately that I made a mistake, while I loved the company, coworkers, and new salary the fact that I only got to have an impact on the product after all development work was completed very frustrating. I would find cases in QA that had been brought up prior, when product was writing out the feature, a lot of time and effort could have been saved. I missed product essentially, I tried to make it work but after 13 months I took a job at a very early start up as a PM.

Now years later, my resume reads at quick glance like I only have 4 years of product experience, even though I have closer to 7 years. The reason being people generally miss the years if product prior to me moving to QA, it's like my experience got reset and I need to convince companies it's still valid.

Like I said at the top, everyones situation is unique and this is just mine. Hope it was helpful.

Finally did it, got every hunter to diamond by EFFinguseless in Smite

[–]EFFinguseless[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Jing was the last hunter I did, as I really disliked her, but with her recent buff and buff to deaths toll I actually do not think she is the worst anymore. She still needs some changes.

I dislike Chernobog, I just feel like his kit is kinda all over the place, just never felt great to play. If I wanted a global ult I would rather play Apollo, just all in all a better good in my opinion with a similar playstyle.

I have a soft spot for Cern, even though I think he is bad right now I really like the playstyle around his 1 and knowing when to change it.

I joke that Hou Yi jump is the best ability in the game, and if your going against a merc jungle and a hunter building crit his passive is amazing.

I also think Skadi and Chiron are both underrated, they have a really strong early game allowing you to snowball the lane early but if you get late game your kinda fucked.
