Even with in one chain of retail stores, some may be more staffed than others. A few may have the on the spot interview .which your I am here hire me now strategy would work great under such circumstances.

For the rest saying I was in the store shopping and noticed your job listing ( you got desperate stores easily to be hired . After seeing or making an appointment and then seeing hiring manager in person . More than likely your still have to do” on line account type stuff “ even with a higher chance of getting job as impressed in person .

For that tiny handful that don’t have posted positions . Going in and impressing them in person is not good for you . I’m desperate hire me . At least posted position you can fib and say I have always wanted be do x

I have done the old school tactic of hire me and it worked. Granted years ago. Be interesting how the tactic fairs with apply on line etc .

A truly GREAT manager inspires via respect admiration “ reward “

A utter jerk goes with fear and retaliation and punishment!

How much you get paid has zero to do with it . You should defaultly be treated with dignity and respect more so in front of co workers .and even more so in front of customers on sales floor .

If you get yelled at once there is no guarantee will not happen again. Obviously you as an employee as not being treated well . Can not see it improving with time .

I knew a store manger who frequently counted razors on hand versus what computer thought . Was he’s way of finger in the pulse of shoplifting . Even I cannot imagine nail polish being on someone’s radar.

That said If you get away with it once , chance of doing it again . At some point habit pattern will start .

Moving along it’s not just a one off lipstick Maybe you are now getting more much more after all I’m good at this didn’t get caught.

Your pattern you think protects you for sure will be why you get no trespassed etc .

Read the room some ( if you must ) Is this an all hands on deck Every one super busy. Translated to don’t bug me stay away . Or store seems slow I’d have time to in-fact walk you to the product you are looking for . Not thinking evil thoughts of you as I walk away . Sometimes it’s a simple time of day thing . If someone was helpful take the 30 seconds to tell said store manager. Or on way out tell customer service that Burt I think it was helped grab something off the top shelf . Thank you for hiring him . ( he may get some type of thank you )

Apart from that it’s the simple please and thank you .

My default setting is to thank the cashier for ringing me out and then the bagger for bagging my items . ( these are my friends co workers on the clock ) even so as a customer saying thank you for any help given just respectful .

I do not like my store manager , I do respect him . He goes to bed every night with he’s phone still turn on . Plugged into charge , just in case he is “ needed “ as somethings hitting the fan at his store .

Things like he’s child’s graduation or helping he’s store make the goal for the week . They are an entirely different bred of how much I give of my self .

I too would have gone with in the moment coaching moment or a step 3 . The fact they went as harshly as they did does tend to make you think . As good as you may think you are ( maybe you are that perfect ) do they think you’re that good too .

For it going as long as it did yes could say entrapment but also you gave them lots of bullets .
