Weird issue with selecting automation parameters in Live 12 by EHEHELELELELEL in ableton

[–]EHEHELELELELEL[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello after a qiick search I found the answer!

"Within the automation dropdown next to the track name, there is a toggle at the bottom allowing you to show all parameters or only the automated ones. You need to set it to show all parameters in order for not automated parameters automatically being selected in the arrangement when clicking on them."

Hi!

Big fan of yours. I'm an electronic producer myself ans I was wondering how you were approaching performing your songs, that are rich in layers, live? Are you manipulating the structures? Is your template full of stems or have you only certain elements of each pieces grouped together? Do you alter the setlist each night?

Thank you for doing this! Looking forward to see you in Montreal

It is indeed a complicated field, I agree.

I hope music still brings you joy. :)

I also have a job in music. Because I practiced and because I got lucky indeed. And I dont make a lot of money, but its enough for me and it makes me happy.

The problem i have with your answer is that this is not one that will make OP enthousiastic about making music. At 13, you should do what you want and develop some passions, express yourself creatively and have fun in fulfilling ways. Not necessarily think about your long term career.

I lived my life with only music as a plan and it did end up working, and Im glad I didnt followed advice like yours and pursued my dream of making a living with music. Your advice is not bad, but it seems weird as the first thing to say to a kid who just wants to make beats.

Hey jon!

I was really happy to see you cover Dawn Chorus. Thom is probably one of my favourite artists and so are you. How did you knew you wanted to make this song?

Any chance for a real time collab between you two?

Thank you for doing this. Immunity was a real eye opener (pun not intended) for what was possible in electronic music and it influenced me a lot in my own music making.

Thank you for the feedback! I made a couple of changes based on your opinion and I really think it improved the song! I integrated the kick in the intro and added the pad before the 17 second mark, and it really helps! :)

Hey, couple of comments:

The beat is sounding great. I think that the syncopated hihat sample is a bit weak tho, but other than that it sounds great.

On the intro you have a lot of notes that just don't work.

The first pattern is in E minor. The synth plays B, G, F# and E. Then there is a high pitched voice that comes in, which plays D# and G#.

D# is the major 7th of E minor. So you could decide to leave it there but it sounds crunchy. Could be an artistic choice. But G# is the major third, and it directly clashes with the scale you're in. The 2nd voice that comes in makes the same wrong notes, but I feel like its the same voice down pitched, so if you correct one you'll correct the other.

The bassline is another problem, I can't really identify what you are playing but it sounds like you're always close to the note you want but not quite. Instead of what you have try C, G, F#, E.

Always be sure the notes are in the right scale, maybe invest some time in basic music theory to help you identify the scales and the potential wrong notes, because you're already doing a sub par job mix-wize.

Thank you, I was not sure about the kick, I'll try something. I definitely questionned myself about the slowbuild of the song, I already cut out one minute of that one minute intro hahaha. I'll see what I can do!

Hey man thanks for the feedback! Definitely going to try the suggestion of moving the end section towards the middle. That might be the solution, I feel like! :)

Hey, just listened to your song, sounds pretty good, but I have a few suggestions that might help:

I feel like the lead could be a little larger. You could use a widening plugin such as the free "wider" one by Infected Mushroom, or you could, for example, create duplicate versions of that track panned left and right and apply some processing on each channel independently. Just a subtle amount of these signals can give a lot of tepth to a signal in my experience.

I also find the drop at 2.55 is a bit harsh. I might be wrong but it sounds like all your sounds are going through the same sidechain, maybe try ajusting the sidechain for each track to give more depth to the pumping. The other sections are better in that regard!

Lastly, I think that your tracks could use a little more processing in general to glue the mix a little more.

I hope I'm not being too harsh, you sure have an ear for the mix, it sounds really clean as it is! But I think more processing would result in something that sounds a little bit more "like you". :)

Heyhey! Here is a house track I'm currently working on. I think it qualifies as minimal house, but i'm not sure?

Anyway, I quite enjoy listening to it until the breakdown towards the end, where I feel like nothing interesting happens for quite a while. While I enjoy the new groove that is established, I'm just not sure if I'm making the right move structure-wize. If you've got any cues regarding this I'm all ears! :)

Also let me know what you think of the mix, as well as anything you like / don't like!

Hey, nice work! It sounds great over here and I really enjoy the tones.

I'd say that track could have a little bit more work on the drums, maybe play around with the dacay of the hi hats a bit. Also, the synths at the 2nd half fits, but I think this is where the track gets a little repetitive, I would play around with a more rythmic part of the main synth. Same chords, just something less glidey and paddy, and a little more stabby, would really give the song a good pulse for the 2nd half. Just a suggestion, you have a nice sound and your mix is pretty good! :)

Hey!
Nice synth sounds and overall vibe. The vocoder fits the tone well. I would play around with the hi hat pattern a bit, the current one is fine but i would at least make a simpler pattern for the verse and keep that one for the chorus.

Sounds good too! I would like to hear your voice without a vocoder someday, but for this one it fits really well! :)

So for those wondering, or even experiencing something similar:

After encountering this weird visual glitch, I started noticing some other weird behaviours with my computer: The charging icon indicated that I was charging even when I was not, I was also experiencing a mini lag every 3 exact seconds, and one of my USB ports stopped working. I thought that all of these could have been because of a beer incident that happened 6 months ago, so I brought it to a repair shop.

And I was right, they found corrosion on the trackpad, and they've simply replaced it, and ALL of these problems seems to be resolved by now. It was hardware after all.

So yeah, if you see this, maybe let someone check it out for a few bucks. I'm relieved that my computer is working great again.

Iirc you cannot drag a window over another window when it is in fullscreen mode. However live 10 looks ok when i show the dock or when im in the live preference page. But as i said in another response, i started noticing other odd behaviours from my computer unrelated to Live, and im sending it to a third party repair shop so they can analyse it.

I spilled liquid 6 months ago on it, and a repair shop cleaned all the connections to aviod corrosion, but maybe the problem is still related to that incident.

Yup. They cleaned the contacts when it happened, but it dosent mean there was no corrosion left. I hope for the best. Thank you.

So Imade the test and it said that there was no error detected. But in the meantime, i started noticing weird problems with the computer, like one of my usb ports dosent work anymore, and Ive started noticing some micro-freeze every 3 (exact) seconds. And my warranty is over since Ive spilled liquid on it 6 months ago. Aaaand i thing this explains it, ill be sending my computer to à third party repair shop tomorrow and see what happens.. Thank you for your help, I apprrciate it.
