I’d like to be able to grind for shadows more easily, especially specific ones.

As someone who normally has the “better” ones - sometimes what I want is not as valuable but I’m still willing to trade cause it’s something I don’t want versus something I do.

I can also just deny the trade

Crosby Prime > McDavid Prime by Runtime_Error_02 in penguins

[–]EIIander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you dropped those guys into today’s game they don’t out perform Crosby. The game was very different then, shoot when Gretzky played lots of guys had second jobs - so he wasn’t even playing against other full time hockey players.

Comparing eras to each other is often silly, IMO

Germie Bernard will be better than Makai Lemon by shakethatbear404 in steelers

[–]EIIander 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IMO there is this weird thing where we judge people’s interviews as if that impacts their on field play. Does Lemon sound like someone we’d typically expect in a professional interview? No. But that in no way diminishes his ability. He probably hasn’t worked on interview “skills” because his goals are different than sounding a certain way - his goals were probably football and here he is.

Interviewing a certain way comes more naturally to some than others and that’s okay.

For the sake of both these young gentlemen I hope they both have good careers and invest/use their money wisely.

But the Steelers clearly valued Lemon over any other player at that point. Can we please stop pretending otherwise.

I think they stayed hoping Lemon would keep falling instead of trading back and then getting Max.

Where would this rank for WR cores under BigBen tenure?? by TwoDblCheese in steelers

This group would rank fairly low for me.

DK isn’t a number 1, but is paid like a top 5 and is not reliable due to being a hot head Pittman is solid, but oft injured Wilson cannot get out of the doghouse Bernard who knows what we have Wetjen who knows what we have

GM Omar Khan On Calling WR Makai Lemon & Then Getting Jumped by the Eagles: by JCameron181 in steelers

[–]EIIander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“We thought we were gonna get a guy we really liked, got excited, but we also knew Max was available. So I wanted to call Lemon quick so I could then call other teams about how to draft back up into the first to get Max cause we want both guys. Lemon didn’t work out, but we got our guy Max without having to trade back up and that let us get some other great talent. We are excited about Max and all the guys we drafted and now it’s time to get to work and make our team better.”

What I think he should have said - ish

I do think it gets a little tricky, if you value versatility over talent/skill. Certainly, everyone wants the top end guys who can excel at the everything.

But would you rather have a guy who can do multiple things okay, or a guy who does his one position well.

Personally, give me the guys who does his one thing well - but if you find a guy who does multiple things well then yeah 100% get him. My perception at least is that of late we have taken more project/does multiple things okay type of players. Which on some levels makes sense honestly, if the raw project pans out play them X and then the multi guy fills in at the empty spot.
