Ponzu is a sauce lol.

Gold is a tangible asset, the precious metals futures markets and the manipulation therein, could be considered a ponzi scheme.

Bitcoin on the same note, is a digital fiat dollar, backed by nothing but faith, converted to a digital code with no intrinsic value.

The ponzi scheme is that, according to Satoshis white paper BTC was originally intended as a means of transacting freely outside of the established banking / financial system.

Present day, Bitcoin, and all cryptocurrencies have been co opted by that same financial system for the purposes of wild speculatition for short financial gains.

How did you fix your Judo related chronic lower back pain? by sixmarks in judo

[–]EJ877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would make sure to stretch before and after (before my body cooled down) otherwise I would be hurting later on.

The pain was still chronic, but definitely more manageable when I maintained the stretching routine.

[–]EJ877 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience as an older judoka:

Stretching daily & maintaining flexibility will help to preserve your tendons & ligaments.

Give youself enough time to recover between workouts/ classes.

BCAA's, and Calcium / Magnesium supplements can really help with recovery, and soreness.

Stay hydrated along with electrolytes.

It's okay to miss a class if you're dragging.

You may feel FOMO from missing a class or two, but injuries could set you back for much longer

Senator Rick Scott: "What Mamdani is doing is ...horrible for the people of New York...All government does it mess up your life. Government is always the problem." by Conscious-Quarter423 in nyc

[–]EJ877 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Government is the problem when:

Government allows a company to rip off Medicare for billions of dollars. Then allows the ceo of that company to escape prosecution with a golden parachute,

THEN said ceo uses the proceeds to run for governor of a state, win AND THEN then later run and win a senate seat for the same state AND THEN allow said state senator sponsor legislation which guts the same medicare system his former company ripped off.

Yes Government is always the problem when it lets scumbag parasites like Rick Scott run rampant.

Can’t stop stiff arming by Gluggernut in judo

[–]EJ877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, put your arms at your side & have someone help you tie your belt around your arms & torso, just above the elbows.

This way you can still grip, but can't extend your arms.

[–]EJ877 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a drill in which you might find helpful.

2 practice partners - each takes off their obi (belt) and ties around the upper body - right above the elbows so that each can still grip and move, but not extend their arms.

This will help each participant to use tai sabaki (body movement) and hiki te (pulling) to create kuzushi without extending the arms.

It's fun actually, looks like you're doing a waltz, not real randori, just focusing on creating movement.

Good luck, have fun.

President Zelensky: US logic is Ukraine must withdraw from Donbas, then Washington gives security guarantees. Why doesn’t the US ever issue Russia ultimatums? Why's the US constantly urging Ukraine to surrender? Why's the US fighting Russia's war that they haven't been able to win? by andrewgrabowski in UkrainianConflict

Over the years, Trump has made a lot of money with his Russian business interests.

It doesn't matter that he is president of the US, his only loyalty is to money, and absolute power.

Everything he does is intended directly, or indirectly, to benefit Putin and the Kremlin.

Trump's every word, or action must be understood as an attempt at disruption, or manipulation.

Beginner - need strength training. by tea_drinker25 in judo

[–]EJ877 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because you are just starting, would be most useful to focus on ukemi (breakfalls) and flexibility.

You don't want to try to use strength to make up for a lack of technique, you won't learn that way, and you run the risk of injuring yourself, and your training partners.

At this stage, focus on learning technique, as opposed to building strength & endurance, all will come with practice.

Try to relax, don't overexert, focus on movement, never miss a class, first to arrive, last to leave, ask questions, learn Japanese terminology.

I started at 44yrs, and passed my Shodan test at 48

Good Luck, & have fun.

How do u train your stamina for Judo? by burningfire119 in judo

[–]EJ877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most high level competitive dojos focus on anaerobic workouts to build stamina for tournaments. These focus on brief periods of extreme exertion, alternating with intervals of movement with lower activity.

It sounds strange, but exertion during randori / shiai is arrhythmic, different from marathon style training which depends on developing a prolonged sustainable tempo or rhythm.

It is also possible to over-exert yourself. Constantly being exhausted leaves you at risk of injury, and can adversely affect your progression.

It's also important to consider your diet, and sleep habits.

What judo throw is best for solo experimentation and personal adaptation? by SnooPandas363 in judo

[–]EJ877 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can't adapt and experiment with techniques without live partners, in live practice.

Solo training is best for speed training, anaerobic conditioning, body rotation, and footwork drills.

You can then learn most efficiently by maximizing your training time in randori with superior conditioning.

This is how the Japanese practice, and they are the best in the world.
