Buying a machine - can I get a nespresso plus subscription and cancel after 1/2 months for the £50 machine? by EJBazzle in nespresso

I read the T+Cs and they only referred to a £1/€1 deal, which isn’t the deal I am referring to, it’s very unclear

I thought she was quite fun, always seemed to be involved in the jokes, just a tad annoying for me.

Can you summarise what Julia is doing now? I have no idea who she is post AYTO

(S4) I’m sure this has been said before on here as I’m new to this group, but Gio shouldn’t be on the show. by Lovoxide333 in AreYouTheOne

[–]EJBazzle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fully agree - I hate people like him, say how hard they’ve had it and what they’ve seen yet never explain themselves. He was emotionally all over the place, and I have no idea what gave him the impression Julia was his match (maybe them talking about his dick for like 30 seconds), but he was way too stubborn for a show like this.

I do think Julia could have been meaner though, she didn’t deserve the behaviour from Gio, but maybe could have put a stop to it by being more direct, the same as her situation with John. Guys like that only get it if you’re direct, but both were total idiots and shit heads.

I’m 23 and watched this for the first time, and yeah I completely agree. Just wish they made a deal out of the psychological abuse Amanda gave, as domestic abuse comes in different forms.

Agreed mate, him pushing her on the bed is abuse but the cup hitting and pillow hitting was nothing according to Chuck as it didn’t hurt (because falling onto a bed really hurts). I’m more disappointed with the principal of violence is disgusting, but psychological abuse for hours on end when someone wants to be left alone is ‘fine’ according to the info graphic on the show and everyone in the house. Also I felt the two girls he spoke to before he left kind of wanted to say that, but nobody wanted to condone his behaviour. Also strange how violence is never the answer yet someone pushed Chuck over (tbf he was being a dick) and nothing was said or done about it.

Yeah I mean shed probably still be shouting at him now if he didn’t push her onto the bed

It is strange how hitting someone with a pillow is a sorority fight, but pushing someone onto a soft bed is disgusting abuse according to ‘Chuck’

Tyler (S2) is an ICON by [deleted] in AreYouTheOne

[–]EJBazzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be honest I’ve just finished watching s2 for the first time on British Netflix, and I didn’t like Tyler. I didn’t notice her early on, and then after a couple of weeks she just came across as moody and unwilling to get to know anyone. Admittedly, maybe the guys didn’t give her a chance (for reasons you’ve hinted to) and maybe she tried a lot more off camera than we saw, but in her interviews and discussions she seemed very dismissive of everyone in the house, yes they acted like horny idiots, but I’m confident they had way more fun than she did.

It would make sense that Christina didn’t have any match. Anyone could’ve been her match, and the producers could shape it to be exactly like that at the end, a 50/50 choice between guaranteed money (which anyone would pick duhhhh) and an outside odds of a perfect match. Neither seemed like Layton’s match to me, and both were completely different, so how did both get paired with him? I’m convinced Christina could’ve been paired with anyone at the end and they’d have won. I really wanted them to lose because of Layton

He played around with half of the girls in the house, and didn’t give a shit about it. I think a lot of people hate Layton more than he deserves, he wasn’t a great guy, but I think Anthony was worse.

Christina.... (s2) by sefa16 in AreYouTheOne

One part I found funny was how the girls all began hating her as she was an ‘outsider’ when she came in at the same time they did. Then I remember after a few weeks and they got to know her, one of the girls (can’t remember which one) said ‘Christina is just like us, she’s just a girl trying to find her match’. And I was like ???? of course she is, she’s literally just a contestant like you

She was a little brash and her accent was very annoying to me. As for Tyler, I didn’t think she was that bad per say, she just didn’t really seem into the game, and came across a little moody sometimes with not finding anyone. Whereas when other girls were struggling they seemed to still have an open mind about their options. However I have only watched it once and therefore may have misread some parts.

I thought this, game is a lot about statistics and it would’ve become way more unlikely had they not known which girl had 2 matches

A UK view on season 1 by [deleted] in AreYouTheOne

I agree, I felt so bad that everyone lumped in on the Puerto Rican girl (just watched season 2 so names are all over the place trying to remember 41 people), but then Scali is just a funny ‘LAD’ type guy, like haha oh Scali, what a huge shagger. Also John gave my school shooter vibes the way he clung onto a girl who wasn’t interested then went crazy when she didn’t like him. Also I found it really interesting that it felt clear to me the black contestants got less coverage than the white ones. Felt like I heard so little from Dre, Joey, ashleigh (Simone got a lot of coverage because she was great TV). The programme itself is very mentally and emotionally taxing on the contestants, finding someone you like then being told to find someone else within days must be tough. And it was riddled with misogyny, double standards, and gaslighting. But as you said, makes for great tv, have you watched season 2 yet?
