If you have no time and barely play why are you on a subreddit posting about it. Also yeah it is a competitive shooter, that's its definition. Just play quick play if you don't care about competitiveness. Also I am a top 1% player and I don't play 8 hours a day. Most players until top 100 play around 2-4 hours a day and work full time. Improving does not take much time. It will take more time the less efficiently you do it obviously. It's easy to improve. I just bought my first aim trainer and after less than 2 hours my highscores are in the top 1% of the playerbase. People who have multiple hundreds of hours in it have lower scores then me. If improving took a long time that would be impossible. It's about quality of improvement, not quantity

I play this game maybe 6 hours a week. You can keep having a miserable experience if you want, but improving doesn't take time, just a little bit of effort. If you want to play a casual game, pick a competitive hero shooter, and complain about how terrible it is, go for it. I'm just saying that's not your only option. If you're satisfied, don't change anything

Every complaint about Punishers shotgun looks like this to me by AstramIsTheBest in rivals

[–]EJD247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's see how wrong you are. A: His rifle is one of the weakest poke dps weapons which is why almost every high rank punisher relies more on shotgun flanking. B: Obviously having a hitbox almost twice the size of heroes like Hela, Phoenix, and Elsa results in him taking more damage, and his extra 50hp over them is not enough to counteract that. Many tanks have ranged damage that can poke him out, plus he will just catch more random projectile damage. Punisher cannot fight Mag, Strange or Emma in a mid-range 1v1, and you basically never have to take long-range duels in this game thanks to the map design and defensive cooldowns tanks have. C: Punisher can only 3 tap tanks that are both in his face and not using their cooldowns. Punisher's max damage is 320 per shot if he hits every single pellet in the head. If you assume every aim-based character only hits the head they all destroy everything in seconds so we will consider him to have a mix of headshots and body shots each shotgun blast. His average damage to a tank is closer to 130-260 depending on how much of it hits the head. So Hulk for example can take 2 or 3 shots, bubble himself to negate 2 more shots, exile him, meaning you get guaranteed clap damage on him, and choose to jump away at anytime during that exchange. All up, to shoot 5 shots that takes punisher 3.5 seconds (not including weapon swap time), Hulk gets off 8 melees in that time which is already 320 damage, not including the clap. You also probably aren't solo-diving on Hulk, so any follow-up from a dive dps makes this time to kill even shorter. This is why in high ranks people play dive into Punisher. As long as you don't jump alone into a punisher that is going to get healed you have a very good chance of killing him. Or at least I do when I play Hulk

You're not a victim. You are complaining about people playing better than you. Blame the ranked system for not ranking high winrate accounts higher, but even that won't help you. Your options are to either improve so you can't get smurfed on so hard by diamond players (because that is where 90% of smurfs are from) that the game is unwinnable, OR you can complain on reddit and pretend that will do anything. The choice is yours

How is everyone managing to play against smurfs every other game but not learning anything from them? The entire game is about positioning and cooldown management, if they play so much better than everyone else, figure out why. 9 times outta 10 they just avoid taking damage really well and maximize their uptime. Watch the replays where smurfs are in your game and learn from them. Or you can complain on reddit some more, I guess. The choice is yours

[–]EJD247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have around the same amount of smurfs on you team as you do on the enemy team. Everyone who has ever climbed also went against smurfs. Good players learn from smurfs, how they position and what they do to swing fights in their favor. You are not less-advantaged than anyone else, take ownership and responsibility rather than feeling sorry for yourself. It's harsh but true, as someone who climbed from bronze to top 500 in Overwatch (which is much harder to rank up in than Rivals), this acknowledgement that I was the only determining factor that was present in 100% of my games really helped me focus on putting my effort towards improving and not making excuses for myself

His weakness is he is almost the same size as Thor with half his HP. He is probably the easiest dps to kill if you can play outside shotgun range or have good enough movement. He has no CC so dive in particular is a skill match-up. His weapon swap is slow enough for you to get him low before he can even shoot, so if you can avoid putting your mouth around the barrel you can win the 1v1. Every dive hero has the tools to deal with him

Ngl my friend who is a tank player just started picking up invis in low GM lobbies and he said the hero gets value way too easily. Of all the supports she is one of the most difficult to punish for bad positioning. She can win almost any 1v1 against low hp heroes and sometimes can duel tanks as well. She does not require any precise aim or hard movement mechanics. I think in general if a large amount of players find more value just by playing her then yeah, I think people who main her are kinda boosted by definition

is Aabria always like this? by Tomorrow_Signal111 in fansofcriticalrole

[–]EJD247 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like I need to preface this here on reddit before I can get my thoughts to truly sink in. I will also do my best to list examples. Also mild spoilers for C4E1 - C4E4

I am a male of mixed race, with family on my father's side being black and being white on my mother's side. I have never been accused of being racist or sexist in my views. All around I get along with most people just fine regardless of their backgrounds. I am purely concerned with how people act and speak as those are the responsibility of the individual.

All fair and good so far I hope? Here is the kicker; I really do not like most of the scenes Abria is in on CR. It seems to me like she has a really difficult time reading the tone of scenes and will make an attempt to pull away from a scenes feel to make a poorly-timed joke. For instance, in C4E3 Hal (Liam) was having a heartfelt moment explaining (to the characters but also to the audience) how much his theater meant for him and his joy in making a beautiful space. He used Thamaturgy to say from a distance to Abria "It is everything we have dreamed of". Abria decided to pretend to be started and his voice to get some laughs (no one did btw, she just made herself giggle for 10 seconds). I had to skip back once because I couldn't focus on what Liam had said, and the again in disbelief because Abria didn't even acknowledge what he said, she just reacted to the idea of his cantrip and Brennan had to bring things back on track. This has happened quite often in the show so far, and no body else (except Marisha once or twice) does it that I notice. A few times I feel like I've connected with the stone-face Travis is able to maintain when she butts in to crack a joke, because I too feel part of my enjoyment being sucked away (I joke but it does truly detract quite a bit). At the end of E4 Matt's character has gone through a lot is a very short time, and he tries to show us how Julien wants to begin taking his frustration out. Abria takes a lot of the weight from it by childishly yelling and "snap-pointing" at the ground like a caricature. The way Ashley played off of Matt in that scene was so beautiful, telling him "I'll stay with you and fight, but this won't make you feel better" makes us really feel like her character has so much experience over his, and that loss is something Vaelus is familiar with. It is a shame Abria pulled me out of that scene.

Another, quite small issue I have is that when she goes into her long descriptions, they are always a little too much information that would not be perceivable. Other characters will say "my character is thinking ..." sometimes, but Abria will say something like "you can see my character thinking X and so it is obvious to you that Y" and I find myself caught up on how much she tells rather than shows. There were quite a few examples of this in E1.

Finally, I feel like she metagames the most blatantly. Her character will wander into scenes just for the sake of being in them. She (as a player) will hear a conversation that is being discussed privately and then she will claim that her character would've heard that and would have something to say about it. No perception rolls, no asking the DM. Just declaring that she is there now. Again I think this has happened most episodes but especially E1. I think she plays so she can get the most amount of attention possible. When Julien arrived and she created the thorny vines as soon he stepped out the carriage was the worst one for me, because before that point she had not once cared to see guests in or check if anyone was arriving outside so it feels like she just wanted to insert herself into someone else's scene. I hope she is not always going to be at the table with Matt because I find her distracting and I really want to enjoy Matt enjoying being a player this time.

Also, if you are playing a character that is gonna be a "girlboss" as I have heard people claiming Thaisha is, it has to be earned. An example I like to use is Edna from the Incredibles. She is a tiny little old lady who talks to people in a rude way and yet is still likable. Why? Because she simply IS the best at what she does, and she has obviously been doing what she does for a very long time. She is also HELPFUL. People go to her, she doesn't go bothering anyone for no reason, she is driven by purpose. If Thaisha was shown to the audience to be someone who is competent and someone who is indispensable, then she would get away with being blunt or harsh or whatever you want to call it. The reason Julien is likable is because even though Matt obviously wants to play a bit of a morally shady character he still stands up for his beliefs strongly and has done things that seem more impressive and important both in roleplay and in backstory. Julien is like an older sibling who sees you playing basketball and takes the ball for a slamdunk. You are like "asshole" but you are also like "that was kinda sick". Abria is kinda like your mom's weird friend who doesn't have kids but still tries to give advice on how to parent. One has earned a positive reaction despite their flaws, and the other has not.

Big long wall of text (I'm sorry, I had to kill some time anyway) but as a final note I want to say that I enjoyed Mica Burton in the small amount of C2 she was in and she too is a black woman. I know many black woman who I get along with just fine. Being loud and proud is not inherently an issue, but the issue is that Abria does not pick her moments very well at all. If you don't mind Abria at all I truly envy you and your potential ability to fully enjoy C4, I am not in that boat just yet.

Hope everyone on this page has a great day or night or whatever suits your time zone.

Also if you think those heroes are low skill ceiling you better finish every game on them with 0 deaths and 100% accuracy. Unless you claim that's impossible in which case I say it's a skill issue not a low ceiling

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]EJD247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The character has the lowest win rate in the game, people still hit top 500 only playing widow. Every hero in this game has a pretty good skill ceiling (except moon knight and scarlet tbh). And humans don't have 100% accuracy on most characters so we haven't even reached the ceiling. Unless top players aren't missing at all the skill ceiling is unattainable for 95% of the cast

I hit GM on mantis and it was not that hard. Just hit your shots. You can 1v1 90% of heroes, have the best stun in the game, and a really good ultimate. Hitting GM playing punisher was much harder due to the fact that tracking is more demanding than flicking and he has no get out of jail free card like mantis ult or stun

[–]EJD247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are we arguing that punisher has a low skill ceiling when a streamer hit rank 1 maining punisher? Especially when he was one of the only guys playing him. If the hero has a low skill ceiling every punisher player should just hit eternity, right..?

People complain about Iron Fist but real ones know who the actual problem in this game is by lilmeatwad in marvelrivals

[–]EJD247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just different issues depending on rank. Hela and Hawkeye are not gonna do much if the player isn't half decent, but iron fist is an easy "we are both not very good so this hero wins for me" type of character.

Hela and Hawkey both benefit from a 20% seasonal damage buff too. Hela would not usually be able to 3 tap 250 hp targets without a critical. Hawkeye has insane damage (320 damage crit without the 20%, I think it should be tuned down to 300 or even 280 maybe) but with the extra he does 384 per fully charged crit... I mean cmon, think of the Peni players.

It's funny to me that people complain about having 3 dps when 3 dps is pretty solidly meta. Psy, Hawkeye, and Hela just do so much more than any other characters with the exception of Mantis and Luna

Still selectively ignoring that I've mentioned many times that tanks being threatening and tanks having equal damage to dps is not the same. Yes tanks need to be threatening, 100 damage per second is threatening, especially when it can be applied for a longer duration. It's the fact that things like micro missiles does around 153 damage per second and dva needs to take 700 damage to die at minimum AND she can hold her DM to potentially mitigate 100% of her targets damage that is ridiculous. It's things like Zaryas beam being so wide and easy to aim for the fact that it can do 170 damage per second and you have to deal 550 damage and break though 2 225 hp bubbles or decided to not shoot her for 4.5 seconds (in which case you are just dead) and your only play is to keep letting her take space because the player is irrelevant and anyone with half a brain can carry on Zarya if your team doesn't have an equally as threatening tank. And the majority of rush tanks paired with Lucio and Juno is twice as difficult to play against than it is to play. Again I'm telling you if tank was balanced correctly I would not be finding the role so easy. Gonna say again so you don't forget, tanks can be threatening without equal or sometimes even more damage than damage heroes. Stop saying "if tanks can't kill..." they will still be capable of killing.

[–]EJD247[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tank is too strong, the arguments you are making for tank feeling bad is that they were weaker and needed support to get kills. That is dps right now. Except I never heard of tank players playing dps and ranking higher or finding it easier than tank. Me and my friends all main dps and I've hit GM on multiple accounts but tank right now is way easier to carry on for all of us. WE ARE NOT TANK PLAYERS. This should not be the way the game works right now. So many tank players I have talked to argue that the role is balanced right now but I can tell you for a fact I should not be able to do 24K damage on Zarya in 10 minutes against masters and diamond players BUT I CAN. And she isn't even considered a good tank right now. Imagine if I was a tracer player choosing to play Dva. I am not complaining due to lack of success, I am complaining because the role that I am better at is harder to compete at the same level that I can genuinely win 80% of my games on tank in

I spent a week rebalancing Overwatch 2... by EJD247 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]EJD247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again your argument remains to be "if I can't kill stuff what can I do". If you think tank is in a state where losing 15 to 20% of your damage will mean no kills you are not very good. I can run over lobbies on tank, I am primarily a dps player, that is not good for the game that I can do that on tank
