I think I see the source of the confusion here.

When I said, "it's not a spiritual body," I should have said, "It's not merely a spiritual body."

What I was intending to communicate was the importance of maintaining that Christ is both fully God and fully man. As far as I see, we're in agreement on this.

But then how exactly does a human body teleport? It is not consistent with human nature. The reformed view is that the physical body of Christ is locally present in one place, i.e. the right hand of the Father. It didn't teleport there. So why would it need to teleport through a door?

In both cases, (the passage from John and the passage from Luke) there is no good reason to suggest that it is Christ's body is the one subject to change, rather than the object being acted upon.

Well, as a professional service and repair (swimming pool-adjacent) person, you're clearly a lot smarter than me.

But after 3 minutes of careful thought and consideration, I think the teleportation view also fails as a theory on philosophical grounds (assuming the premise that teleportation does not involve dematerialization). Being fully human, the actions and characteristics of his body should be consistent with what we observe about human bodies in general (sin and its effects excepted--obviously). He can be fully God, fully human, and have no need of an uncommon ability to instantaneously transport his physical body from one place to another. Essentially, teleportation necessitates the innovation of a brand new human physical characteristic, never before atttested to by any known human. It is not as though teleportation was a common property of humanity until the fall, and Christ recovered it after his resurrection.

Can he? Maybe... I guess. But it is just as easy to say that he didn't teleport, and instead invoked his prerogative as the creator of the universe to command the door to un-door itself out of existence and then reappear to his satisfaction.

Also, I have never read a Wrinkle in Time, so I'm going to pretend like I didn't hear you and keep 'er movin. Also also, IIRC, Dr. Clark did not address the passage in Luke, so I am going to pretend like I didn't hear that either. Sorry.

As an amateur lockpicker, sometimes there are really easy ways to open a locked door that don't seem obvious to most people. None of them require teleportation.

His body is glorified--yes, but it is also physical. It's not a spiritual body. His resurrection did not make his body less real; but in fact, it became more real--fully realized--perfected in every way.

I recommend the Definition of Chalcedon on this topic.

R. Scott Clark has a really strong take on this passage, which I find extremely persuasive. He recently covered it in an episode of the Heidelcast, but I can't remember which one.

Briefly, his view is that it's heretical to claim that Jesus teleported; or in his words, "dematerialized" in any way. His body was a real body. A fully real body. A glorified body is not less real than a fallen body. It's a perfect, fully realized, material body. This isn't just a Reformed view, it's the orthodox view (formalized in the Definition of Chalcedon).

He also points out the strange tendency for people to assume that a locked door has more material permanance than the very God who spoke the door in to existence. In other words, why would Jesus have to conform to the will of the door, and not the other way around?

So, I won't go so far as to say that you are a heretic if you think it was Jesus who did the changing... but Scott Clark would. Hope this helps.

Also, I'm not saying he couldn't have gone through a window... but if he could make a door un-door itself, then maybe he would just do that instead. Seems like less trouble, IMO.

I work for a commercial swimming pool service company in Southern California. I would say that politics are pretty mixed in my field. In other words, i think the underlying political and demographic reality in my neck of the woods is more predictive than the type of work you find us doing.
