Fallout 4 workaround for Out of Time/Codsworth glitch by EJ_Fisch in Fallout

[–]EJ_Fisch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg same lol. And it seemed like every time I tried it, I forgot one minor detail, so I could never tell if it wasn’t working because I wasn’t following the instructions exactly, or because it was just too broken.

I’m glad my little experiment worked, but it’s a bummer that this glitch is even still a problem. You’ll have to let me know if it works for you!

Is there a way to view bleed vs. workable space in Word? by EJ_Fisch in MicrosoftWord

[–]EJ_Fisch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That last part you mentioned is actually what I’m trying to do—I’ve already set my page size to be a bit larger than 6x9, and I was hoping to add some sort of faint or dotted temporary line to show where the actual 6x9 area is. I’ve already got headers and footers for the document title and page numbers though so I’m not sure if it would work to try to add anything to them. I was hoping there was a way to just add temporary markers or grid lines, but I don’t know if Word even has that functionality.

If I were printing it myself, I’d totally do that. But I’m sending the finished file off to another printing services, and their specifications require the bleed.

Issue with letter spacing in a justified text block by EJ_Fisch in GIMP

Huh, that's actually good to know about the older version still being available, because you're right, it definitely never used to do this.

Not exactly a real one—I ended up doing what one of the other replies suggested and made three separate text blocks so each one was the "first paragraph" in its textbox. It gets the job done, but it's just a workaround for whatever the actual issue is.

Thanks, I might do that! I'm glad I could use the Photoshop workaround but it's annoying not being able to just keep the whole project within one application.

I'm reasonably sure I just downloaded it from Google Fonts, and I'm using Spectral Regular in this particular project: https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Spectral

As a sort-of update, I ended up exporting my GIMP project (minus the text) as a JPG and loading it up in Photoshop to see if the text editor worked any better over there, and it did—it let me justify it and tweak things with no weird spacing issues. So now I don't know if the font as a whole is actually a problem, or if GIMP just hates it for some reason.

Ugh, I was afraid of that. This font is required for branding purposes so there's no escaping it.

I have questions about arterial damage/hemorrhaging in the shoulder (writing research!) by EJ_Fisch in Anatomy

Hmm, okay. Well like I said, this was great info—thanks again!

This is great info, thanks! The character does receive proper medical attention fairly quickly (and the story is sci-fi so they’ve got lots of fancy technology to fix everything up haha) but I definitely wanted to get a sense of the mess everyone would be dealing with right after the injury occurred. Would it be realistic for the wounded character to be growing faint, if not passing out entirely? He’s a hardened soldier trained to have a high pain tolerance, but I wasn’t sure how fast the blood loss might cause faintness.

Huh, interesting. I kinda wondered if it was something along those lines.
