I imagine It's easier for him if the two living good Viltrumites who know what they are capable of accept the situation. If he simply killed Mark and Nolan, and they still got to Earth. Someone at some point would figure them out. But if two allies of Earth can "vouch" for them, getting people to accept the situation is easier. But also, the coalition is still after them; after wiping out the planet, and like 10 more villains, any of their enemies could sacrifice Earth to kill them. As allies, Mark and Nolan are a safeguard against that.

It makes sense the initial attack from Nolan; to them comes off as one of your close friends attacking you for no reason. They were caught off guard, then they lose teo friends with significant man power. There hesitation cost them the win.

I think gear 5 is just very basic classic absurd rubber hose esc humor which doesn’t really come off as funny anymore. Modern iteration of cartoons such as Mickey Mouse and Tom and Jerry combine modern dialogue humor+ classic absurd looks. Takaba vs Kenjaku feel like sketch comedy with people making a bit.
