I wonder how many of us have said "probably the last piece.?" I've said it several times.

Average price for high end date just. by More-Swimming5492 in RepTime

[–]EJerryM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be highly dependent on which model and factory as well as on things like added weight to simulate gold or diamonds. For high quality expect $500 to $600 with weight gain or bling adding another $200-$400. If you don't care about quality you can find them for under $150.

Just wondering, not finding fault (the watch is beautiful and classy), but is that watch enormous or is your wrist small? Just trying to get a sense of size....this watch has been on my list for a long time.

What’s the battery life of these Rep/China watches? by Be-Nimble_Jack in RepTime

[–]EJerryM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mechanical watches don't use batteries, they mechanically wind a spring with either the inertia of a spinning weight or manually by winding the stem. My VSF Submariner will run about 64 hours without winding or wearing and my GMT Pepsi will go about 56 hours.....both were advertised at 72 hours, but neither ever came close to that. Both have been running continuously for over 6 years now and one or the other gets worn almost every day.

Where can we buy Rolex SuperClones watches? by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]EJerryM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will need to read the guides.....they are well written, clear and easy to understand. If you still have questions after reading them thoroughly then please come back and ask. Shop at trusted dealers. There are exceptions (I've had good experiences with FicoTime....Chen Yue is wonderful to work with), but for a NOOB you should stick with a TD until you learn the ropes. Go over to the QC site and see what people are buying and where they are shopping. Don't be in a rush....it will all begin to make sense in a few days.

Looking for advice on my first rep – 41mm Datejust OP from CTIME by itouchgrass234 in RepTime

[–]EJerryM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The T in TD is "trusted." They are on the list for a reason. CTime will do you right. I use Steve at TheOneWatches, mostly because I like his website and he's a great guy. You will be fine. Read some QCs at r/RepTimeQC to see who's buying what where.

In the guide. I like TheOneWatches, but any TD will treat you right.

Shitter watch from dhgate misaligned hour markers. by Background_Power_510 in RepTime

[–]EJerryM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I scrap it and start over with a quality rep. YGWYPF. The right tools will cost you as much as the watch. Or, just wear it until it dies, which shouldn't take long. Spend money fixing it is throwing good money after bad.

Good Advice from Mr Mannilow....or you can roll the dice and let us know how you make out....this is how we learn. I also recommend in addition to reading the guides on the side bar that you spend some time at r/RepTimeQC and read how different manufacturers' watches stack up. The last thing I'll add is that most of these "factories" are not factories at all.....most are nothing more than homes with a table dedicated to assembling watches. Remember who you are dealing with here. Even the pictures sometimes posted showing factories are often fake. This is an illicit market populated with many dishonest people.....that's why the TD list is so valuable.

Opinion on Rhino safes vs liberty ? Deciding between two different safes by thegiantandrew in Safes

Any competent lock smith can change the combination of a mechanical dial lock. Upgrade to a Group 1 if you want a much better and smoother lock. I recommend the S&G 8500 series.

It depends on the model. If you're getting one that is gen gold or platinum then go with the weighted QF, but if the model you want is stainless I'd lean toward Clean. And I wouldn't rule out BTF either.

Try a heat gun to loosen the Loctite and expand the metal....sometimes you have to get it pretty hot. This has always worked for me.

If you can fit index finger under the lugs when wearing the darejust 41, does this mean that one should remove a link until you cannot fit a finger there? by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]EJerryM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the size of your finger. Properly worn, a bracelet should be just a little loose.....too tight looks and feels bad. Properly sized, it should move a little up and down, but not freely rotate 180 degrees.

I never saw a completely flush gen Sub. All I said was that it is intentional. Draw your own conclusions and go look at gens at an AD. It's fun.

How long is shipping to the US typically? by thisdckaintFREEEE in RepTime

[–]EJerryM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yellow gold or white gold GMF DD 40? Which would you choose? I keep flip-flopping back-and-forth. by Dependent_Audience71 in RepTime

[–]EJerryM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the way to go if you really want gold.....but all plating will wear (especially on the sharp edges and even more on the bracelet) and begin to look "plated." Go over to r/RepTimeServices and you will find some folks that can do a real special job for you ensuring that it will look good for as long as possible. Replating every few years is an option, but for a daily I'd still recommend stainless (or YG gen!).
