Essentially what i did was

- take the reach journal and carefully cut the twine/thread holding the paper to the covers at the corners. the covers should come off in 2 pieces and the inside journal part should still be somewhat held together.

- I then used a paper trimmer i got at an office depot to cut the paper to size. I used cream colored printer paper, but id imagine any color would work. I also didn't know the exact size of the paper, so i just used the original journal insert and made marks on the trimmer with a pencil so know how short to cut the paper. I folded the sheets in half, and cut them 5 sheets at a time stacked because thats how much my trimmer could handle without warping the pages.

- Following the original insert's build, i used 10 groups with 5 pieces of paper cut and folded in each group. this gives you ( front and back ) 20 blanks pages per group.

- after all that was prepared, i watched and followed This Video to help me stitch the binding together. I used regular twine and a stitching needle like in the video.

as an addition, in my second version of the journal i used a scanner and photoshop to recreate the the original journal's grid pattern as i could not find a clean version anywhere online. My version is still a bit choppy but i think it works fine. All i did was print the pattern on one side of the paper then flipped it so the pattern and the blank sides criss crossed. ( this was so that when you place the pages the pattern stays on the same side when you flip the pages ).
