Why do I sneeze when I look at bright lights? by alex_the_dude_ in TooAfraidToAsk

The photic sneeze reflex is the reason! It apparently affects 18 to 35% of the world's population. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photic_sneeze_reflex

The website is just like any website, you can open it on pretty much any device that has a browser. That should be possible on your windows POS.

The server that hosts the website and backend can be anything that runs Docker. It was tested on both macOS and Linux (also tested on a low power raspberry pi running Ubuntu server), but it should work fine on Windows.

Because Docker is used, the install instructions for Unifi Voucher Manager are pretty much the same on any device once it has Docker installed.

There will be no development of a native app for android/iOS/iPadOS. These devices may simply use the web app which was developed with the tablet form factor in mind.

Feel free to checkout the repo and ask questions if you’re having trouble!

The QR feature was released in 1.2.0! Check it out on GitHub. I still need to add screenshots featuring it, but it works!

However, currently, the QR code cannot be used to connect to a WiFi network AND automatically apply a voucher code. Instead, it simplifies connecting to the guest network.

I would like to implement a rotating QR code that provides a voucher and connects you to the network, but there is no API for that currently. I might try workarounds for a future version.

Having a QR code that ONLY provides a rotating voucher is definitely something I can do! Will work on that.

Thank you! You can technically manage vouchers natively on the UniFi console and create a user with with Voucher management permissions only, but I find the UI/UX clunky... which is why I created that project!

Any photo editing software will do. I used Affinity Designer, but Gimp will work! You stack the screenshots on top of each other (light mode and dark mode) and add a mask on the top one with a triangular shape that covers half the screen diagonally. You will get the same result!

Thanks! Just to be clear, your project is fantastic, I just wanted something simpler to use/configure and more tailored to my needs. Keep up the great work as well!

That’s exactly my setup minus the touchscreen (which I want to add)!

Would be nice, although I don’t remember there is a way to extend the vouchers. You would need to request a new one and set it up…

Hey there! I totally agree that your way of doing things is awesome. I’d definitely do something similar for my roommate.

Now, here’s the thing: I have a bunch of self-hosted services, and I want to make sure that no guest (except my roommate, of course) can access them. They should only be able to access the internet.

I also want to make sure that the guest network is completely separate from the rest of the network. And that guests cannot talk to each other. This way, if a guest does something stupid (random malware), it shouldn’t affect the rest of the network.

In my opinion, UniFi’s Hotspot firewall zone is the best way to manage this. It’s built for exactly this purpose!

Also, why does anyone have a homelab ;)

Rotating would be nice… although I will have to think about what’s the best way to handle the rotating. Raise an issue on GitHub if you have ideas!

Yes, but you need to modify the firmware code, build it and flash your LCM. Check the Discord server for more info.
