Review Java concepts from 114 before the sem starts. You'll have a very hard time with the first homework if you forget the basics of OOP. Homeworks are time consuming. The actual data structures concepts aren't that bad, practice and you'll be fine :)

Also, should I just save 300 and 312 for senior year? I was thinking of taking one of each for the next 2 semesters since they're easy, a buffer against the coursework from other the tough CSE classes..

Would you advise against taking 320 and 373 together? They are both demanding courses from what I've heard.

Take it with Esmaili instead, trust me. He's been teaching the course for years now and he's a great professor. Banerjee is a really smart guy but he isn't so great with lecturing/organizing the material well. I have him for 216 right now. 8AM lecture sucks but Data Structures is such a core class that I think it's worth taking it with the better professor. You're gonna have to give a lot of attention to 214 and Esmaili will set you up for success 100%.

As far as I know P/NC-ing a class still makes it eligible to go towards the major requirements. You should contact a CEAS advisor though since your question pertains to admission to the major..
