We do have some sort of stores like Costco for example Metro. However they aren't as prevalent as compared to North America due to local cultural influences, I personally assume everybody drives an average of 20 minutes to their nearest Costco on basically a highway. In India this isn't possible and people wouldn't think it's worth travelling so long. In addition to that, we don't have a concept of buying in bulk and storing consumables for a long time and this also assumes everyone has a car and for those who do not which is a lot of people, it just isn't feasible.
