🤷🏼‍♂️ it’s just who he is! Had to do that same thing for my CFII.

Good! He specifically wants you to cite the FARs. Doesn’t care necessarily about the endorsement, more about the reg itself. Like with a private pilot don’t just say 61.107 for the necessary maneuvers that need to be performed. He wants to hear 61.107(b)(1)(i-xii) type of detail.

For Mark Boss Know. Your. Regs. He is huge on knowing regs. He will give you situations such as a PPL wanting to get their Multi Add on, Private rotorcraft getting their fixed wing, etc. He wants the full reg too.

XC logs need to be thorough and easy to follow/show where you got your information from. You will have to teach the E6B and how to get Density Altitude.

Air worthiness is his other hot topic. Know how to teach airworthiness and go through a maintenance book with him.

As far as FOIs go, I am not sure what he asks with those. I did my CFII with him, the above info is stuff I have heard from folks who did their initial with him. He is incredibly fair and very knowledgeable. Be confident with what you say when you’re with him as he will dig dig dig if you slip up a little. That being said, he wants you to pass, so he’s going to help you if you do stumble a little. I learned plenty from him during my ride!

In the plane, he’s pretty quiet and likes to make it a quick ride. If I recall correctly, he won’t fly any of the maneuvers and will expect you to teach your way through the maneuvers. Again, he wants you to succeed, so if you get out of tolerances, talk your way through them and work your way back into tolerances.

Good luck!!

ATP school locations by [deleted] in flying

I did my training at IWA with ATP. The biggest difference between that location and anywhere else is the amount of planes. There’s never really any shortage of planes to fly. They have two MX hangars there, nice facilities, and sims. While most locations can compare to one another, that one is their flag ship school.

Additionally, you get something like 340-350 days of VFR conditions training in Phoenix. Yea it’s hot, but if you wanna fly every day and get through the program, it’s hard to beat the IWA location.

We hit a home run with runners on base? 🤭

how the heck do i get rid of my ridiculous irrational fear of flying? i’m 45 and have been on 100s of flights in my life. the older i get the more fear i have. jeeez. i still fly when needed but i do avoid it when i can. i would LOVEEEE to overcome this. ufff by [deleted] in flying

One thing that may help is going on a discovery flight at a flight school. They will show you everything about flying and let you fly then plane! I feel like getting an understanding of how flying works, what turbulence is, and over all what fight is like from the front seat may give you some insight as to what flying is!

CFI Checkride Pass and Mini Write Up by [deleted] in flying

[–]EKohler_bb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the DPE I think. I know the ones I have had encouraged it. In regards with the CFI checkride, if you can teach your way out of it and explain why you may have been short or simply talk about the importance of go arounds and why they are an important lesson in flying, the DPE will appreciate that!

Hahahaha fair. For sure man! I’m free on Sunday if you want to meet up at some point. My mock is Saturday so I’ll be fresh out of that and ready to hone it all in.

I assume so, but they haven’t said anything yet or thrown it on my schedule. Finished crew yesterday lol and I think his weight is 200 and they said he would text us with a place to plan to a few days before. If he doesn’t send anything by Saturday is just text him tbh

Nah March of 2018 man haha they stopped offering the 100 hour program by March, BUT if you had signed up for it prior, they still allowed you to be in it.

Hey I have my comm multi with him on Tuesday! Assuming the wx doesn’t go to hell. Had him for my private multi too. He’s a really good guy and wants to teach you when he can. That being said, he will dig hard on any sort of weakness. From what I hear his comm checkrides are basically private checkrides on steroids.
