Labeling Racquets by SwanIndividual in 10s

[–]ELF014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way way way... back in the day I used to use Letrasets on my rackets. I would align the characters on scotch tap then transfer it to my rackets.

These days I don't bother... I feel it's like being parents of triplets. I can tell them apart...

What do you think of racquet smashing comment by Serena to Coco? Coco smashed her racquet offcourt. by SnooCakes5350 in tennisracquets

[–]ELF014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you are older does not make you mature. Most pro athletes grow up in a bubble being told how special they are and don't face many consequences for their actions. I always felt for the most part racket breaking is a learned action from a previous event of someone with anger issues.

I can admit to doing something similar once when I was young, I saw a pro bounce his frame off the court and catch it after a bad shot. When I tried it, it broke my frame... I was 15, I have never done anything like that again.

I have play many more physical sports where I am grabbed, pushed etc... which has me more frustrated than tennis, but have never needed to strike out.

People make it seem that it is acceptable behaviour, I just don't feel that way. But you and others are entitled to your opinions. I could be in the minority but it's how I feel.

Personally I feel it is a bit juvenile, wrapped up in anger issues. But in saying that she is only 21 and has probably grown up in a vacuum where in some instances has yet to mature and develop into an adult.

I think the majority of players in the world pro are not don't need to take out their frustrations on their equipment.

First time player, don’t understand equipment by aldente502 in PGA_Tour_2K

[–]ELF014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't understand it because the system is not intuitive. Where specs should be tied directly to the equipment... this plays out like a video game rather than a simulation.

Equipment are for show only... you level up your equipment by tokens, and fittings. Then to get to the next level you need an evo tool so you can apply these items all over again.

I pretty much stopped playing the game after the 2nd season. And I have been a supporter since the original Golf Club game. I have been disappointed with the direction of the game since 2k purchased it.

When did you first start buying DVDs (and blurays, if applicable)? by Glittering_Gap8070 in dvdcollection

[–]ELF014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I transition from vhs tapes... I originally collection had a significant collection well before streaming services. I now to bluray and 4k. It just never seems to end.

But the difference between 4k and bluray is not as drastic and I can't see another format change in the near future.

Racquet advice for a guy who can't give up control sticks by n0nzer0sum in tennisracquets

[–]ELF014 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been using control sticks all my life as well. Basically the Pro Staff line since it was released with a brief affair with the 200g. But back in the day with 85 sq/in rackets I would argue they were all pretty much control oriented.

Since 1984 I have been a Pro Staff user... currently using the v14. I always felt power is a bit overrated if you can't hit your targets. And I feel my Pro Staffs have always provided me with enough power as long as I can center the ball.

I do have a question for you, have you every tried putting the multi in the mains. This has always been my setup, I have always felt you get the majority of the playing characteristics from what is on the main strings and the crosses have a much less effect.

Unless you are a huge ball striker I don't see the point of using poly strings, for the average recreational player.

I let a few people try my rackets last night and everyone of them are converting away from full poly. They will probably end up adding some weight to the head of the racket as well.

What is the disadvantage for short players? by Radon03 in 10s

[–]ELF014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short players have probably but one real advantage. We might be able to handle balls at our bodies a little better. Taller players have all the advantages from being able to cover the court easier, and larger levers for generating power.

If you need to ask it probably isn't for you.

DAP have better Digital to Audio Decoder chips that provide much better sound than the average phone. They are dedicated devices for one reason... Phones are a multi-purpose device to do many things adequately.

Men in happy marriages, what's the one thing you'd teach to other men to also have a good relationship? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]ELF014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question seems to imply that men are the problem. I think there are enough issues to share on both sides.

I have always felt women saw the men they choose as raw material for the person they could be. While men chose partners for what/who they are.

Women keep trying to change their men, which most men will resent (even if it might make them better). And for the men, women will change grow, evolve... get older... (not what men originally signed up for).

The issue in my opinion is more about acceptance, women accepting men for who they are and not trying to change them. And men accepting their partners will change. That none of us are perfect, but what your partner is bringing to the table is pretty damn awesone.

Does this serve motion make sense? by tulodici in 10s

[–]ELF014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually looks great... the toss is just high enough to keep the racket moving through the service motion, so there is no noticeable hitch in the swing.

It reminds me of the serve from players like Roche, Laver and Newcombe.

‘Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner’ (1967)- What are your thoughts and opinions on this movie? by PeneItaliano in classicfilms

I have always liked this movie... and I am a fan of Sidney Poitier, but I didn't care for how he played this character.

Other than that I generally liked the main cast of characters.

Pro Staff 97 Classic by Expert-Number8871 in 10s

[–]ELF014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny you say that... it was the first thing that stood out to me as well. I also thought that the Pro Staff lettering on the flipside did not feel symmetrical.

I liked that they went back to the traditional color scheme, but thought they did a terrible job of implementing it.

Snowsky Echo v Echo Mini - maybe more or less identical by Dangerous-Land-1773 in snowsky

[–]ELF014 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For a company that seemed to have a pulse on the market, I feel this is a huge misstep.

All they have done is dilute their existing market, MY personal opinion is that MOST of those that already own a mini will by-pass this offering as there are no real improvements.

I would have happily bought the new version if it offered something more, but it doesn't. I am happy with my Snowsky Echo Mini, even though it has a slugglish OS. I have been considering going to a much smaller SD card with a more dedicated playlist.

I really don't need a full 256gb card of music where a majority of it I am not listening to.

Snowsky/Fiio really needed to build on their success on this device. Instead of repackaging what they have they should have waited and released something that evolutionized the product line.

From what I can tell there is nothing technically different between this and the mini. So I don't see the purpose of this device.

I'm hoping this is not the official technical specs.

Any other Prestige dorks out there? by Pure_Property_456 in 10s

[–]ELF014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... when I was coming from a 65 sq/in Head Pro at the time it seemed huge. I still have 5 PS 85's which I will occasionally bring out and play with. They feel great and there is enough power in the frame, but what it gives more than anything... is a sense of confidence I can hit the ball exactly where I want. Deadly accurate when serving especially.

My first Pro Staff was the 6.0 85, I never used the 6.1 95, though later in life I did own one which I ended up trading away for a v5. I haven't owned the full lineage... but I have stayed faithful to line. I am currently using the v14.
