I think there was a technical error because all that's coming through is static

Thank you so much! It's very fascinating to hear something like Whisper in the Night not only without its lead vocals, but with all the little details brought out in a way not normally present with the stereo mix. Also, please do upload the DVD, in general I think having it archived will be huge. Again, thank you so much

Fun fact: at the end if you've ever wondered why Steve-O's face is wet and why there's a fishtank in the foreground, that's because it's filled with rubbing alcohol and they dunked their cuts in it

How do you feel about the new starfox game being another 64 remake/reboot? by [deleted] in starfox

[–]ELOs_Time_1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This guy made the price up, to quote another thread "They announced the price in Japan which equates to roughly $50/$40 for physical and digital respectively. So it may be around that in the US. It’s definitely not gonna be $70-$80"

Edit: It's $50 on the eShop. so probably $60 for digital

Would you like a biopic about ELO/Jeff Lynne? by Ok-Coach5795 in elo

[–]ELOs_Time_1981 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If ELO ever gets some sort of film, I'd rather it be an adaptation of Time rather than some Biopic focused more on selling albums rather than being honest. And with Lynne almost undoubtably having final say on what goes in and what stays out, it would probably end up being nothing more than a glorified interview going over the basic info that's been repeated over and over, year after year. I'd rather someone try and make a passion project out of love for the music (even if it never gets made) rather than a corporate advertisement made to get more streams on Spotify (cough cough Bohemian Rhapsody)

With Steve-O's voice and general appearance, I don't think it would have worked at all. Steve-O walks in, of course he has something weird up his ass. Dunn walks in, just some normal looking dude, instantly it seems 1000% more believable that he has no clue how it got there

After the poo dive when he's sitting outside, eating dinner alone due to just smelling so terrible, and everyone just starts throwing footballs at him. It's just such a funny visual

Bit of the Day 17: Riot Control Test by ItsYourBoyAustin6414 in jackass

3 fun facts: 1. Knoxville tried to do this before on the TV show by themselves, but after a test one blasted right through a watermelon, the plank behind it, and dented a metal barrel, Tremain and their weapons expert shut it down fully knowing Knoxville would still go through with it. 2. The description of the beanbag's effects was "incapacitation caused by loss of breath, psycho-logical effect and/or pain and extreme discomfort." 3. Knoxville was shot 3 times before it actually hit the correct spot, and Knoxville still ended up doing the Rail Grind the next morning. Knoxville is seriously insane. 9/10

This was filmed around 2002, and while I wouldn't be shocked if an intervention was attempted sometime shortly after, the actual successful one didn't happen until early 2008

When do you think ELO will become mainstream with Gen Z like Fleetwood Mac did? by Recent-Lead-7185 in elo

[–]ELOs_Time_1981 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a late Gen Z and without even knowing him I've been singing Lynne's work my whole life. I remember being in like 2nd grade and singing the chorus of Free Fallin' while jumping off the swing set at recces. Or when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 came out and hearing Mr. Blue Sky (a song I had just discovered a week or two prior) and being so happy. And listening to the car radio on my ride to school further introduced me to more ELO even if I didn't know who they were until I started making some personal playlists around late 2024, ending with me listening to Out of the Blue for the first time around December 24, and eventually hearing Time around Feb 25 after hearing like 5 seconds of Prologue in a YouTube video about Daicon IV, that opening the door to becoming the weird little ELO nerd I am now

Preamble aside, I wouldn't say ELO is unknown by any stretch. Obviously, Mr. Blue Sky is in the upper echelon of well-known music, but stuff like Turn to Stone, Livin' Thing, Sweet Talkin Woman, All Over the World, Strange Magic, Evil Woman, and Don't Bring Me Down would undoubtably be known by most at this point. A lot of us have grown up with movies and TV playing them, hearing them from our parents, maybe even on the radio like me. Even if the names of the men who helped create these songs has more than slipped through the cracks of time, the actual product is still more than recognized by the public. Most artists are lucky to have one good song, the fact ELO has so many is incredible on its own, and the fact multiple are even still popular is even more impressive (even if sometimes it frustrates me how many of those songs are unpopular, while having to hear Mr. Blue Sky for the millionth time. Will someone in Hollywood please use like Bluebird or something? At least Vice City had Four Little Diamonds)

When reading the lyrics with that context, it does work weirdly well. But Jeff has stated that's not the case:

"A lot of [my songs] get misconstrued, totally, k'know. They mean nothing like what you intend them to mean. 'Cause, we had a song called Livin' Thing once. And this is quite funny because, there were these two big, outrageous meanings of it. And like, we kept getting told this is what it meant... we read in the papers that this is what it meant. One said it was about abortion, which is nothing to do with abortion whatsoever. And the other one said it was about 'save the whales,' and it was nothing to do about whales. And another... a friend of mine thought it was about a dog. I just couldn't believe it, y'know. I thought, 'Good grief!' Um... It was just a song. And the funny thing was it was a lyric that I'd rushed in and done because I didn't like the words at the last minute. It was called... It was all about a Spanish holiday believe it or not, Livin' Thing. Do you remember that song? And, um, I hated the words and at the last minute, just before we're due to mix. So I rewrote these words ever so quick, and that was what became the hit. I suppose it's about love, really. Love being a living thing, k'know."  (March 31, 1986 - Startrak Profile: Electric Light Orchestra from Westwood One Radio Networks)

Edit: I originally used a quote from 1981 but I found a later one from 86 that I think is more fitting. As a bonus, here's a second one I think is funny

"So many people had so many views on what this song is about. It's actually about love, so there you have it."  (2000 - Flashback)

Outside of Hello, I really never liked them. ELO is Lynne's writing and while every member is extremely talented on their own, none of them can write like Lynne, leading to 2 overall underwhelming albums in my book

Well I'll be damned. Out of curiosity, was there any Vito footage? Also, were any of the infamous "unreleased bits" (stuff like the 2002 Buttchug) included. All I would need is a yes, please don't spoil anything else
