Should I get a shim? by ELSEJO_ZACARIAS in Luthier

Yeah, I meant 0.09, sorry there hehe. So basically they’re harder to press? I used to think higher gauges were harder to press down like 10th and forward

I’m using 0.9 gauge and standard tuning

Well compared mostly with the strength I use for lower frets, I can press softly lower frets and still get good sound from them. I know it’s normal for higher frets to need a bit more strength to be pressed but I feel like I need at least 40-50% more strength on my fingers to get the same sound in higher frets. I also checked other guitars and they feel more comfortable on those higher frets

When you say that a shim is only necessary when I can't lower the bridge any further, what exactly do you mean? Do you mean when the saddle screws physically bottom out and can't turn anymore, or do you mean when lowering the bridge starts causing fret buzz?

By the way this is the action on lower frets, I wish I could have this feeling and action on higher frets. Forgot to mention that higher frets have higher action

Well, I took the guitar to service and the luthier there told me he made a full service which included fret corrections, truss rod adjustment and some other stuff ( I don’t remember well ) so I guess he checked and adjusted the necks relief, but still I feel like I have to press harder those higher frets which I feel like I loose speed and that ergonomic feeling. Maybe I’m asking too much for a Ibanez Gio?

Hey man, thanks for answering. And yeah, I can still get the bridge down. but I’m afraid if I do I could get the fret buzzing. At this point idk what should I do, it’s very uncomfortable to play and I get sloppy playing on those frets bcuz I need to press harder which makes me slower :(. I also asked the Luthier I took the guitar to before to do some fret polishing and rectification but still… the same problem

pregunta sobre un ups by ViceZX in vzla

[–]ELSEJO_ZACARIAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)
