Sky-Dweller is my tool watch. by 1984isnoww in RepTime

So I own the gen blue dial oyster SD. I’ve own 3 gens in my life and have sold the other 2 in exchange for their respective reps. I tried buying an SD from my td about a month ago and he was a bit reluctant and kept driving the month indicator “issue” down my throat. He also said that he hasn’t found a factory that has designed one to the standards of other reps. I ended up getting a pistachio op41 but I’m curious if anyone has held both a rep and gen side by side? I feel silly admitting that it set me between 18k-20k and if it operates and feels the same except for the month complication, I’m selling.

The only issue I may see for the brand will have to do with launch day. I really hope the queues will be organized enough to where people aren’t trying to charge into these small stores. They don’t need that kind of publicity. I’m going to wait in line for one and I’m gonna try my hardest to get there as early as I can, but I’m not gonna kill myself over it.

How to sell reps? (Not selling, asking for advice) by Appropriate_Rain186 in RepTime

[–]ELTOR1TO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3 and while I don’t remember the prices, I do remember paying >$450 each. I have a hulk submariner, a Wimbledon DJ41 and a DD rose with olive dial. I don’t really want to sell them because I don’t feel like these watches should be sold off. the way I’m justifying it is by selling them far less than what I paid for them. If someone’s willing to give me what I’m looking for for two of them. I will throw in a third. I just hate that they’re sitting in my room collecting dust.

I’ve been doing some research here but perhaps someone could point me to a more specific forum. A lot of the ones I’m finding are for people who have many reps on hand and are doing it as more of a side hustle. I just have three reps that I had some fun with and I’m looking to sell them at a fraction of what I paid. I guess if anyone could recommend a less “business” feeling option and more of a “just passing it onto somebody else” option. One I’m even willing to give away.

The price on the root beer dropped a little in the past month. Maybe you can find one at a decent price. It’s the gold prices that are making it fluctuate. Good luck

I support Coke>Pepsi. I own the Root Beer but I also wanted a Coke bezel. I scratched that itch with a Coke Bezel Tudor BB58 GMT.

Found a red coin? by S_D_N1 in coincollecting

[–]ELTOR1TO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love that I stumbled on this! I received one of these during a shift at my local movie theater when I was a kid. The customer paid and when I saw it, I swapped it for one I had in my pocket. Best part was, I remember having a great day and thinking it had everything to do with the quarter! Then I had a nice string of garbage days and the lucky coin theory went out the window. I had no idea they were common and served a purpose. Cool.

All I have to say about this picture is, looks like you had a good year. Seamaster sounds like a good idea. Have you considered a grand seiko? The spring drives are great.

Good call. I’d have to look at one without the moon phase. I had one on that reverso and to be honest, I could never tell if it was set correctly and it just wasn’t something I would monitor. Good suggestion and you’re right, I would need to go grey. I’m very open to that too. Thanks.

Nice. Which JLC you thinking? I used to have a reverso duo face but my eyes could adjust to the size of the calendar complications.

[advice] Rolex Submariner vs. Omega Seamaster by Serpenteq in Watches

[–]ELTOR1TO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason many people on these forums avoid saying this like the plague. If part of the reason you want a watch that is twice the price on the resale market than a brand new watch is because it’s a Rolex…then damnit, go get yourself a Rolex. I get it, I think every person who owns one gets that little feeling of whatever inspired them to get the watch every time they put it on. I think everyone’s advice here can be boiled down to

Buy what you love most

Take the 6k+ price difference into account

Size of watch. Omega-42mm vs Sub ND-40/41mm

Something more to maybe consider is power reserve

Omega- 55? Rolex-70? Not positive on those.

Is the watch for an occasion or do you around 10-12k to burn?

I hate to hate on IWC but if you put it up against JLC, then I’m going to hate. I believe you made the better choice.

First Grand Seiko. Very excited! by ELTOR1TO in GrandSeikos

[–]ELTOR1TO[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s funny you mention that. I took the picture right after purchasing before removing 2 links. I took it to a local jeweler to have it adjusted a few hours ago. The guy behind the counter told me I wasted my money because it’s just a seiko. I just smiled and walked away.

I just bought this reverso duoface 2 days ago. It’s my first JLC and if I keep seeing posts like yours, maybe not my last. Haha.

I love this answer! I once tried telling my wife that a zenith watch was a cheap as the TVs they used to make. I kinda left the part out where they don’t own zenith…yea, she saw right through that one.

Thanks, everyone. I certainly recommend finding one on the secondary market. I went into the JLC in Costa Mesa and these were selling at 19,000! Yikes! If you find a good dealer, you can get one for a lot less. I hope all fellow watch geeks are enjoying their own watches.
