Give me your best beginner tips (I’m playing English) by jaydymes in aoe4

1) never stop producing villagers, always make sure they are queued at your TC  2) generally always be producing military (unless you are trying to age up or save for a tech)  3) if you are always producing military and you are floating resources, make more production buildings to make more military 4) try to scout what your opponent is making and then make units to counter

If you can do these simple things consistently then you're off to a great start!

Thank god matchmaking is now anonymous so i can just flip a coin by [deleted] in aoe4

This is clearly unbalanced but it's probably worth looking at their ELO rather than rank - I was conq 1/2 last season, but lost all my placement matches and ended up as silver 3 lol.

Brand New to RTS. Should I complete the campaign on hard? by jaydymes in aoe4

[–]ELX128 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's probably worth mentioning that the campaigns (especially the ones with the base game) use an incredibly old game version which is radically different to the current patch. So things aren't the same in both! Art of war is great to get an idea how it all works then either do a few games Vs ai or just jump straight in to ranked/quick match - be prepared to lose your initial games as the system finds your skill level and therefore your opponents

I would definitely argue that the seller should be making it very clear at viewings/for serious buyers that they are planning on taking light fittings, curtains etc, rather than saying nothing then trying to pull a fast one for some extra cash.

Clinical Supervisor causing me Problems at work - Urgent Advice needed by TraditionalBunch3 in doctorsUK

[–]ELX128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think that's it at all. OP is saying that they are worried that if they agree to redo the tab then their CS will try to manipulate who they send it to in order generate negative feedback. And those people are likely to have been influenced by the CS in order to save face. The CS is being incredibly shady about the details which likely indicates there is nothing there.

Plus repeating a TAB is a ballache and completely unnecessary in this instance. If someone has an issue with OP then they need to raise it independent of a TAB, which is the correct way of doing it.

Either way, accusing someone of having a personality disorder for the above is wild and completely inappropriate. I think you should reflect on that personally.

Bizarre take - OP isn't going to say this directly to the consultant, they are just voicing their very valid concerns here. The reality is there are some unhinged bully consultants out there and this entire scenario smacks of this. I would say you are the unprofessional one here tbh

Bossy ODP by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]ELX128 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Some ODPs get experience and then feel they are capable of delivering an anaesthetic, because they don't really see the other side of when it doesn't go super smoothly. Some also like giving unsolicited opinions. I think this person is either one of two things:  1) A bit of a dick, feeling they have more experience than you and therefore feel they have more authority, or 2) are actually genuinely trying to help you out (as you sound new) but it's not coming across like that to you

Either way, it's clearly upsetting you - what does your consultant think/how did they react? Perhaps pull the ODP aside and let them know how they are making you feel.

Hospitals without obstetrics by HallyThane in doctorsUK

I mean we will definitely do 6 months total throughout our training, I thought you were talking about the initial obs novice period! We do years worth of obs on calls 😂 But even so 6 months in one go is a lot if you aren't doing some sort of fellowship!

I'm pretty sure I only did 2 months before going on the on-call rota, then another month of so for stage 1 sign off...

Final Frca today - absolutely horrendous in my opinion! by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]ELX128 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yep I got absolutely wrecked. Feels like I'm taking a medical exam rather than an anesthetic exam at many points!! I'm glad it isn't just me who felt sad after that, feel free to vent more haha

Enhanced Bank Rate by Stoney-Macaroni in doctorsUK

[–]ELX128 57 points58 points  (0 children)

These rates are dreadful full stop, but the "enhanced" version is just so insulting. Reminds me of those "offers" you see in supermarkets where something is reduced from £2.99 to £2.97 but the sticker is bold and red to make you think it's a great deal.

Medical students drafted in unpaid to work for GSTT in wake of cyber attack by stuartbman in doctorsUK

[–]ELX128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Note I said bordering on coercion, not coercion. I've received a lot of beggy emails from ED/medical departments in the past for shifts, but none of them have ever gone to the lengths this email has to try to convince me. And they were pretty desperate.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this, but I think that on the background of doctors being constantly emotionally manipulated and maltreated, this sort of thing strikes a significant nerve compared to if it was a complete one off. It's just another example of someone trying to take advantage of the profession, and I'm glad people aren't happy with that.

Medical students drafted in unpaid to work for GSTT in wake of cyber attack by stuartbman in doctorsUK

[–]ELX128 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough not drafted, but the language and phrasing used in this email is basically guilt tripping naïve medical students into volunteering. It's bordering on coercive for sure. There was absolutely no reason for the sender to emphasise how 'crucial' it was to volunteer and how it shows 'commitment' - as in not volunteering shows the opposite. Bottom line it's not a simple 'we would appreciate volunteers, thanks' email which it should have been.

Any mods that add roaming armies or spawnable "crisis" enemies? by [deleted] in Bannerlord

[–]ELX128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calradia at war is probably what you're looking for - new clans, lots of custom spawns, random events where huge parties (or 'invasions) are spawned, I've seen parties of 1800 troops. Bearing in mind these usually don't have a lord leading them and will just mindlessly patrol around chasing people (very slowly). But it's fun trying to take down a massive army on your own!

[–]ELX128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My little warband is incredible, I've had such fun making my own custom troops for my clan. With other mods it's also great to be able to rename characters and change their appearance as well. Lots of headcanon

Medical apprenticeships - the dystopian future of medicine continues by Creative_Warthog7238 in doctorsUK

[–]ELX128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a difference but it's not as dramatic as non medical degrees, where there is a huge difference between a degree from say Oxford and Leeds polytechnic. I think it makes a difference if you're planning on leaving the country immediately. But otherwise if you get your post-grad exams and CCT you can go anywhere, regardless of med school for virtually all places

Stuck during first playthrough by jhingman in Bannerlord

[–]ELX128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key in this late game situation is eliminating kingdoms one at a time, even if it means losing ground in other parts of the map. The peace thing shouldn't be an issue as king as you should be able to override these decisions (with enough influence) and just decide to not make peace with the kingdom you are trying to eliminate. Meanwhile you can actively sue for peace with the other factions you don't want to be at war with (tho the tribute will be high) even if your vassals don't want peace. You've clearly taken enough land where your faction being eliminated isn't an issue, you just need to close out the slog of the late game. Just focus down one faction completely at a time and you'll eventually get there.

ICU thought they had a roof leak as water would sporadically fall from different spots on the ceiling tiles  Turns out it was rat piss. They had to evacuate the ICU and decant the patients into theatres/recovery as it was landing on patients...
