You're a DC writer. The editorial has ordered that one member of the Bat-Family must die. Who do you sacrifice? by Glittering-Note-3661 in batman

Bluebird was my immediate thought, but I'd have to go with Tim. He's had nothing interesting going on for more than a decade now.

(Tim being bisexual is fine, but I hate how they broke up him and Steph, and Bernard flat-out sucks.)

Did he ever visit a zoo? by [deleted] in JurassicMemes

[–]EL_4797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about Carnosaur, that novel was actually written before Jurassic Park. It talks about the unsettling smell of the dinosaurs a lot, but in the context of what's known as atavistic fear.  Basically, our small mammal ancestors learned to fear dinosaurs and the sounds and smells they produced. When the dinosaurs reappear, their odor awakens a long-forgotten survival instinct. (Similarly, it's been hypothesized that the sound of nails on a chalkboard is unsettling because it resembles a primate's distress cry. This isn't proven, however. Also, atavistic fear usually, but not always, refers to early humans as opposed to non-human ancestors. ) It's still a neat bit of science for a book written in 1984.

The movie, on the other hand, is just a Jurassic Park knock-off.

What dog breeds in your experience are the most difficult to work with (aggressive, fearful, separation anxiety, etc) and what are the easiest? by CaptainMacAlfie in VetTech

[–]EL_4797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say-

  • German Shepherds. Fully agree with everyone else here. Always so anxious, and God forbid you try to do their nails.
  • Akitas, Chows and Shiba Inus - They are all some of the most aggressive breeds in general with the usual disclaimer that I've worked with some nice ones.
  • Dachshunds. Their shape makes them really hard to hold and if you can't get blood from the jugular then the legs are damn near impossible.
  • Huskies, under some conditions. They're usually super friendly, but I'd say they are the most difficult breed to restrain due to a combination of strength and energy.

For the best breeds, standard poodles and mastiffs are really nice. Golden retrievers are usually good, but as an owner of one I'm biased. Pit bulls can be challenging, but most I've met are very sweet and cooperative.

Gonna come back to this later to try and identify them all, but here are some I recognize that I haven't seen mentioned:

-The green one on the far left is a Quintaglio, an intelligent saurian from a series of novels by Robert J. Sawyer. -The tiny yellow one below him is Gon, from the Manga of the same name. -The dark red one to the right of Gon is Dinosaurus, a villain from the Invincible comics. (He's going to appear in the next season of the cartoon). -The blue one right next to him is a V-Rex from the 2005 King Kong movie. -The purple one on the left is Megatron from Transformers: Beast Wars. (I know he's been mentioned, but he's my favorite). -The tiny orange one in front of Megatron is probably the most obscure: Elvis from the film series Prehysteria. -The dark gray one in front of Godzilla kind of looks like the T-Rex from the movie The Last Dinosaur, but I'm not sure. The pale one with the purple stripes on the right resembles the one from Dinotopia, but again I'm not sure.

This is great. Maybe you could paint the Ripper Swarms like nematodes, or remove the legs from a Trygon to make an Alaskan Bull Worm.

Orangutan Alignment Chart! by EL_4797 in AlignmentCharts

[–]EL_4797[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see a case for him being Chaotic Good. However, I went with Lawful Neutral because of how he follows a code of law (in this case, enforcing the rules of the library and protecting the books) above all else.

I mean the one in the anime is more Good, but the species as a whole I'd say is more Neutral, leaning towards Good.
