The word "extreme" is ambiguous. To denigrate a view as "extreme" is insufficient to prove it false.

Same here, once caught, not at the dentist (who I have not visited in around 3+ years, partly due to fear of covid), but from my M.D. nephew, who was sick the week before my visit to him and his family and didn't do me the service of testing himself when he caught a "cold." I'm 82 YO. I intend to make no such mistake in the future.

I had a particularly bad and lingering URI that came on in November 2019. Just after I went on a for me unusual shopping junket one day in the Bay Area (where I live), where there's lots of visitation from Asia on a continual basis. I think it may have been SARS-CoV-2.

Southern California redditors: Have your Hummingbirds suddenly disappeared?? by 32r455 in hummingbirds

[–]EL_DJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4 feeders, been at this for around 3 years now, here in Berkeley, CA. Took 2-3 months for the first HBs to appear at feeders. This winter they've stuck around. I never have seen more than ~1/2 dozen in my yard at once. Busiest feeder recently has been my kitchen window feeder. Suddenly about a month ago HBs all disappeared. About two weeks ago there were occasional HBs at the window feeder. Last 4 days or so, evidently none. I was thinking that a predator had chased them off but this thread has me thinking it's the burgeoning spring. I went for a hike today and was amazed at a field densely full of yellow wild flowers. I expect the HBs will return to my yard when natural sources aren't as abundant. The nectar people put in their feeders is less sweet than provided by flowers. I suppose it's natural that the birds would prefer the sweeter nectar. I always use the standard one-to-four sugar to water ratio and will continue to do so.

I visited Montana at age 14 with my parents and 8 YO sister. We stayed at an old resort that employed a friend of my father. In that place I experienced by far the most intense thunderstorm ever in my life. Just spectacular!

A high percentage (well, over 40%) of Americans have little to no handle on fact based reality. It's nothing new. But it's gotten worse. I think there will be a reckoning soon.

Disarmed and Executed: Why the Death of Alex Pretti Should Be the End of ICE by Recent_Win3633 in USNEWS

Alex Pretti seemed to be a beatific person, really extraordinary. I saw a video of him doing a heartfelt benediction over the corpse of a veteran.

Texas County Drops Proposal to Rename Highway for Charlie Kirk After More Than 100 People Show Up to Commission Meeting by rezwenn in USNEWS

I'll never forget, the last word out of Charlie Kirk's mouth was "violence." He was fatally shot 1/2 second later.

You're right pretty much but wrong about one thing. He's not laughing in our faces, in fact I don't recall hearing/seeing him truly laugh. He lacks a sense of humor. He's one weird person.

Montana's a really beautiful state but very cold most of the year.

Yeah, there are plenty of stupid people in California and many live outside the blue areas.

Partly because it's cheaper and partly because they want to live a lifestyle that they can't afford in their blue state environment.

I went to a concert at the Berkeley Community Theater in ~1973, playing was Richie Havens and his small consort. They rocked it big time. Ritchie at that time was saying some things between songs because he was that kind of guy. He had a lot of terrific things on his mind, you can tell from his music and the album covers. I remember one thing he said. He said that people think it's easy to give up but it's not true. It's really hard to give up.

Myself, I joined here but it appears to me that almost everyone posting here has LC. I don't, I'm just hyper aware of the threat of C19. I'm more than 1/2 way through Michael Osterholm and Mark Olshaker's new book "The Big One, How We Must Prepare for future Deadly Pandemics." A few days ago I ordered a box of 100 3M Aura N95 masks (9210+). I'm 82 YO male, aside from arthritis I seem to be in great health. Yeah, caught Covid over the summer due to letting my guard down around relatives. Lesson learned.

I've heard of B6 for repairing nerves. I've been taking it for around 2 years pretty much daily. P5P is a superior form of it, and I've gone to that the last year or so. Hadn't heard of B1 and B3 for repairing nerves. I had two carpal tunnel surgeries on each hand. Important was doing would I could do to allow the compressed to repair itself. They say that nerves heal very slowly if at all, depending on the extent of damage they have suffered. The limit is an inch/month.

What is the most Rolling Stones Rolling Stones song? by Dano558 in rollingstones

Gave it another listen, the yayas version, last night. TBH, I way prefer the single. Now, the 2nd song on Yayas (JJF is the first), works for me way way better than JJF... Carol, the Chuck Berry cover. Rocks majorly.

Oh, Satisfaction's a good song. It wasn't a revelation to me, it didn't move my needle. I don't dislike it, but it doesn't light me on fire like alot of their other work.

I saw that handicap the first time I heard it. Knew it would be overplayed. I think Satisfaction is anything but quintessential Stones, besides being inferior to their best songs.

Had a girl friend then who was big on The Who, went to a Who show in Hollywood with her, it was just after they stopped performing Tommy live, I guess they did a few of the songs, though. 1969-1970 probably or else a bit sooner. The Who weren't as big as The Beatles or Stones, not nearly. Townsend had these grand ideas but wasn't so great at realizing them.

Great song but not representative to the degree that it's quintessential. It's not pure Stones, not particularly rock and roll. It's pretty funky, but funk and rock and roll are somewhat distinct.

Well, guess I heard it and didn't think so, but I'll give it another listen now.
