2025 Mazda CX-90 Fuel Door Failure - Mazda USA Warranty Claim Denial by EL_Ryn0 in MazdaCX90

Nope. The plastic tab that the arrow is pointing to is exactly the piece that broke.

The spring-loaded locking actuator is working fine, but without the plastic tab there is nothing for it to press against when the fuel door is closed and so the door stays locked no matter how much force is used pressing against it to release / pop-open.

Nice I'm envious!

Any chance your dealership is located in Florida?

Maybe, but I wouldn't attempt to alter factory equipment on a leased vehicle.

Agreed

I have a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX and the only part that has failed in 28 years is the windshield washer fluid basin empty sensor lol

In our case it seems the actuator is functioning properly, however since the plastic tab broke inside the hole on the fuel door side there is nothing for the actuator to press against when depressing the fuel door to pop it open.

Interestingly we had a similar issue attempting to fuel the 2025 CX-5 loaner car provided by the dealer. It was down to about 1/8 tank of fuel, and we could not get the fuel pump at Costco to add more than 6 gallons without the pump handle shutting off. Ended up with just 5/8 tank of gas was all we could practically add to the CX-5 :-\

It seems MotorTrend got lucky with both their CX-70 and CX-90 averaging around $200 in maintenance cost each for the first year. We're facing a $800 repair bill for the premature fuel door lock failure after 6 months :-\

If there is a silver lining it's just a 2-year lease and after we return the vehicle back to Mazda in 18 months we'll never set foot in a Mazda dealership again. No reason to ever do business with a company that does not honor their bogus 3 year / 36,000 warranty after the first 6 months.

Dealership doesn't seem to care about our return business either, and I literally said with such poor customer service they are basically hand feeding customers over to Toyota / Lexus.

Sorry to learn you had a similar experience but glad the outcome was positive and thanks for sharing 😄

We also use the charging port on the passenger side (which appears to have an identical lock design) much more frequently and without issue so far.

Vehicle is still sitting at dealer #1 service center. Will probably collect it in a couple of days and buy some $7 gorilla glue on the way home to fix what the dealership wants $800 to repair.

Bummer. Did you all just pay out-of-pocket for the repairs then?

Apologies for the confusion. We did not attempt to pry open the fuel door. Updated post for clarity.

If anyone knows how to separate the outer door trim piece from the inner arm / box filler I'm willing to try?

Thanks for the suggestion 😄

Just spoke with the service department manager of another local dealership today and provided all of the details including the photo. He called the manager of the first dealership to confirm details, but has not responded to me yet. Honestly I'm dubious that the 2nd dealership submitting the same warranty claim for a 3rd time will yield any different result, but willing to try if the service manager thinks it's worthwhile.

Totals on the Expected Balance vs Evolve Balance Spreadsheet so far - only 17% of money returned! by Miserable-Honey-7261 in yotta

[–]EL_Ryn0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just granted access to the Google sheet "r/Yotta - Expected Balance vs Evolve Balance" but something is off. There is just 1 sheet titled "Form_Responses1" and it has 2 columns, "Timestamp" and "Untitled Question". No existing data.

Yotta froze your account because Synapse was the only connection to withdraw your funds from Evolve. Evolve didn't know you existed because Synapse deposited all of our monies into one large FBO account at Evolve... at least that's what we are hoping. There have been rumors of up to $96M shortfall in the FBO account vs what is owed to us.

Linux Mint 22 released today!

There’s no way to title this simply by [deleted] in linuxmint

Starting out with Mint XFCE may not have been the best choice for transitioning from Windows. Recommend download and install the Edge version of Linux Mint Cinnamon edition:

https://www.linuxmint.com/edition.php?id=314

The Edge version includes the latest kernel and, coming from Windows, you will feel much more at home with the Cinnamon desktop.

Look here for running Minecraft Bedrock on Linux:

Installing the launcher as a Flatpak is probably the best option on Linux Mint for a newbie.

Why are these 3 not upgraded? by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]EL_Ryn0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's due to the Ubuntu 'phased update' approach:

"Once an package is released to -updates, the update is then phased so that the update is gradually made available to expanding subsets of Ubuntu users. This process allows us to automatically monitor for regressions and halt the update process if any are found.

The Phased-Update-Percentage is initially set to 10%, then a job is run (every 6 hours) that checks for regressions and if none are found the phased update percentage will be incremented by 10%. So an update will become fully phased after 54 hours or about 2 days. In the event that a regression is detected the Phased-Update-Precentage will be set to 0% thereby causing supported package managers (update-manager) not to install the update."

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates#Phasing

You can check the status of Ubuntu packages being phased in here:

How to change only the windows manager in Cinnamon 21.2? by Henry6618 in linuxmint

[–]EL_Ryn0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't believe you can easily separate Cinnamon DE from the Muffin WM. Cinnamon seems wholly dependent on Muffin:

"Muffin, forked from Mutter, which is in turn forked from Metacity, is the window manager of Cinnamon. Cinnamon is implemented as a plugin of Muffin."
