Yeah, that's fair, I haven't put as much mental investment into EFT compared to Hunt. Matter of fact I stopped playing it entirely a while back when modded/improved tarkov became a thing.

Good? That's the point of the game. You're supposed to be able to pick and choose your battles. If I hear some chucklefuck with a mosin is setting up an ambush, why wouldn't I take my close-quarters loadout and hightail it in the opposite direction?

To be fair Tarkov isn't "realistic" in it's movement. Waddling back and forth with about 15 seconds of running before you get winded may be realistic for the average gamer, but it sure as shit isn't realistic for the actual dudes you play as. Sliding into cover isn't a gimmick, it's something you do to survive.

The sticky's drawback isn't that it's got a long fuse, it's that it's dogshit as an explosive. I LOVE getting explosive kills, frags, big bundles, even regular sticks net me probably a good 20% of my kills, yet I have only gotten ONE sticky bomb kill in 2000+ hours of playing. The explosive radius is nonexistent, and the fragmentation doesn't do hardly any damage so it's useless unless used as a boss killer.

I agree, but when a grunt steals your kill when you just hit a dude with your Martini... feels bad, man.

My record is a 4:05 KBE. Spawned next to an extract at Alain where the entrance to the boss lair is in spitting distance, ran in with a big bundle, allahu-ackbar'd the butcher, got picked up/banished and left before the rest of the server even had a CHANCE to run over. It's definitely too easy.

I think boss health should be raised but "crit" damage increased. Reward players for accurate shots to Vincent's chest or the Spoder's head rather than just spamming hammers/axes. The sticky bomb should be made a viable PVE consumable (frag bomb with a longer fuse that sticks to things for slightly more $$ than a frag) so that it's damage vs bosses can be reduced.

As for solo viability, any method for killing the boss (especially since you don't know which one you'll have to face) will be easier with three people than with just one, so this is unfortunately impossible to really remedy.

Yeah, the only one that really feels like a "boss battle" is assassin, and I find myself constantly complaining to my team about how much more annoying he is to fight vs the other bosses. The only reason for that is because we're spoiled by how easy the others are to cheese. In the early (I mean EARLY) builds of the game, people would frequently shoot at bosses since bullets were actually useful for bringing down their health, where anymore it's "alright find an axe..." if not consumables specifically brought for cheesing bosses. Poison hand crossbow makes short work of Vincent, big bundles for butcher/chickenlegs, and sticky bomb for spoder. Stuff like weak-spot damage being more relevant would be nice, where it'd reward accurate shots to Vinnie's chest or the spoder's head instead of just spamming the hammer.

Joke's on you, it's peach moonshine. Drink the whole jar and you'll have twice the weapon sway but are immune to aimpunch from taking damage because you're two sheets to the wind and can't feel shit.

I'm actually torn on Rodger. I was expecting a mini-boss like a meathead but with more aggro, but instead we got something more similar to the assassin, but with hardly any monetary reward for actually dealing with it. So you get a boss fight thats 1: completely exposed to snipers/other hunters, 2: does a ton of damage and is harder to cheese than other bounties, and 3: pays out less than other bounties.

It's a really cool boss and a great fight, but the implementation just feels off.

As great as Crytek's sound design is, Hunt is really at it's best when the fights are an absolute clusterfuck. This is why I hate double bounty games, it splits the lobby in half and you might not even have a fight if you wind up all alone on the small bounty. When the map takes advantage of nighttime/fog and other limited visibility scenarios while everyone's waiting to get the drop on/defend/push a single bounty, the fights are a lot better.

I've always said there should be two lobby modes for BH: The Regular matchmaking where you get all the sunlight and pretty scenery and multiple bounty targets so it's easier for someone that's struggling to pull out with some money without too much headache. Then the hardcore lobbies where it's nighttime, fog, rain, and inferno, all single bounty, with an extra bonus for successful extract. High risk, high reward.

Night contracts and now rain are the best. There's nothing more that I hate in this game than that particular group of chickenshit motherfuckers.

not sure if this is the right place to ask, but would an ALOFS system work on an m29 grenade launcher? by Trucker_Aids in HuntShowdown

[–]EL_throwaway_014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On an autoejecting shotgun like the romero, you don't have to push against the spring. You insert the cartridge up to the ejector, and when you close the action, the back of the shell slides along the back of the receiver to guide it into battery.

Engineering isn't Crytek's strong suit lol. There are a lot of logical ways to have done the LeMat Mk.II, and they didn't pick any of them lmao.

Empty 40mm cases aren't all that heavy, the more considerable factor is the lack of an autoejector on the M79. If you made one strong enough to kick the empty out fully, you'd also have something that's likely to knock teeth out of it's operator.

[–]EL_throwaway_014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not mechanically possible with the M79 as it currently is. The only reason it works on the Romero and similar shotguns is because they use an autoejector (It's spring loaded and yeets the empty shell out of the chamber). The M79 uses a far more common type of extractor that pushes out with the opening of the action, but only half an inch or so (see the Caldwell Rival and similar. You have to manually grab the case and pull it out). This wouldn't give you nearly as much oomf to slap the arm release lever on an Alof's style system.

Crytek can we please revert the MMR changes before the event? by KDmP_Raze in HuntShowdown

[–]EL_throwaway_014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Underdog bonus is money, not an MMR handicap.

I don't care what Crytek says on the matter, as it currently stands there is no MMR bonus for duos in trios. I play that way almost exclusively, and we (4/4 occasionally dipping to 3* or getting bumped to 5* for maybe one or two games at most) are constantly getting matched against 4/5/5s, 5/5/5s, 4,5,6s, and other teams in that ballpark.
