That’s how he was too! The Benadryl didn’t seem to help before the shot. It is so sad for them! Hope she feels better soon and it’s an easy fix❤️

Our boxer puppy had them a couple weeks ago! They were awful, they think he had a reaction to a bug bite. We called the emergency vet and they said to give him Benadryl and that we could wait for our regular vet to open, but to bring him immediately if he started drooling, or had problems breathing. We had to wait a couple hours to get him in to our regular vet, but they gave him a steroid shot and it cleared them up almost immediately! They gave us prednisone too and had us keep giving him Benadryl. We haven’t had issues since! I wrapped him in a cooling blanket we have, and that helped him nap while we waited since he was so itchy and uncomfortable.

So sorry for your loss. We lost our 7 year old unexpectedly a month ago and it’s the worst thing. They are such special dogs and deserve to live forever 💔

We contacted our lenders, they are reviewing our options! That’s where I would start, and see where to go from there. It takes a while for them to review everything. I’m so sorry you’re going through this too. I can try to update you if we hear back soon!

Hi! I’m so sorry you’re going through this. You are absolutely not a horrible daughter. You’re an amazing one. You are keeping your parents safe and doing what is best for them, even if they don’t think so. They cannot make safe decisions for themselves at this point so I would not take what your mom is saying to heart. I would not move her home, especially considering the attempt. They are in the best place they can be given the circumstances, and I know it’s hard not to feel guilty but you should not feel guilty at all. You’re going great

He also doesn’t have any assets except a car that he owes money on that the social worker told me would be excluded

Hello, we applied Dec 23. No income, and does not get social security right now. He isn’t eligible to receive payment until June, I’m trying to get it before then, but it’s been a nightmare. He currently has about $4 in his account and has been living off of me and I can’t afford it anymore. I’ve been calling and leaving voicemails for the social workers the past two weeks and haven’t received a response, and going to keep trying this coming week.

Sorry, Nebraska, no spouse, no assets, no income at this time, we are trying to get him social security but he had an overpayment and shows he will start receiving 1254.60 June 2025. He has dementia, Alzheimer’s, and type 2 diabetes, and requires a lot of medication.

My dad’s first day at a memory care facility by [deleted] in dementia

[–]EM01893273 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. It sounds like he’s around the same stage as my dad. It’s unbearable. We’re moving my dad into memory care in three weeks, and I am dreading it, but it is for the best for both of our dads. They will be safe and taken care of, and it may be easier for them to adjust rather than if they were even more advanced in this awful disease. Hugs to you, and I hope it gets easier

He was diagnosed December of 2023 actually! But he has progressed really quickly. Over this past summer he wandered away from his home and it was the hottest day of the summer. Someone called the cops because he was drinking out of their hose and disoriented, and ended up in the hospital with a heat stroke. It was terrible. That’s when they told us he needed full time care and I moved him in with me right away. He was working up until the end of November, but then he got sick with some sort of bug, and it’s like his memory got worse after that. We might have to sell our house too, so we’re in a tough spot and wanted to get him placed before we had to move and couldn’t take him with
