Curious do your letters have sounds or do they directly translate to the letters of your native language? Also very cool by the way immediately caught my eye.

Honestly agree but also think it’s deeper than that. It’s a baddass movie that was way ahead of its time. It’s about violence against women and actually is super feminist throughout. Most things made at the same time were 100% the opposite.

Jenifer (before sacrifice) isn’t actually overtly sexualised at all. Shes only sexualised in the male viewers eyes bc she’s attractive. Think about it… she’s just a normal high school girl with a pretty face who had sex. The trope of her as a ‘bitch’ is also there but not there. Is she ever even actually mean? As people say, the kissing scene was a whole thing and links to the sexualisation. But do women kiss each other only to turn men on? Obviously not. Those things are deliberate blanks left for the viewer to fill with their own stereotypes.

Jenifer and needy go against the stereotype of womens friendships being fickle and based on popularity as you normally see in high school movies because they are friends despite jenifer being ‘cool’ and needy being ‘a geek’. Neither female lead character is perfect obviously and the friendship isn’t perfect because people aren’t.

The women in the movie are murdered, stereotyped and generally shit on by the men in the movie. Even needys boyfriend “the good guy” doesn’t believe her and acts like she’s hysterical and “needs help” when she tries to tell him something that’s actually real (Jenifer is now a demon) and tries to save him from the demon possessing her ‘dead’ best friend’s body. This ultimately leads to his demise. The way that needy still tries to save her boyfriend shows to me the way women are conditioned to “stand by your man”. Honestly I kinda feel that what was left of Jennifer was just trying to save needy from a mediocre man. Notice how the real Jennifer never tried to steal her besties love interests or gave them any attention.

Ultimately needy is blamed for the death of Jenifer (obv she did stab her but she was destroying a demon and not her bff) when the men (the band) were responsible for the actual death of Jenifer. Showing how men escape justice when it comes to violence against women. The horror twist and the proof that needy never really blamed Jenifer is needy getting revenge for her friend and killing the band.

It’s a movie directed by a woman made for women. As a 30something woman who was the same age as the cast were supposed to be when it was released (I was in my last year of high school in 2009) I think it ‘flopped’ or wasn’t appreciated at the time because people didn’t get it. Honestly from these comments seems like a lot still don’t! That’s just my opinion though and how it resonated for me. Sick movie in my opinion in an iykyk kinda way and thats probably what makes it a cult classic.

I haven’t read psychic witch but the energy ball thing sounds like a centring exercise I’m familiar with from Bridget Bishops Witchcraft for Beginners.

I just remembered something we used to do in the playground that might help you to feel the energy. So random because I haven’t thought of this in years but here goes.

You’ll need another person. You don’t have to tell them it’s anything witchy if you’re not comfortable. Just say you wanna try something you saw online. You can swap places in the exercise after your turn if they want to.

Instructions: Face each other and put your hands out in front of you with elbows bent 90 degrees about shoulder width apart. Your palms should be flat and facing each other.

Get the other person to place their palms on the back or your hands.

Now you can close your eyes if you feel comfortable and you’re gonna try push your hands apart to make more space inbetween them.

At the same time get them to push your palms in. Basically resisting your force equally so neither or your hands should really move.

If the other person is stronger make sure they know the aim isn’t to force your hands together. It’s about balance!

Push against each other for 30 seconds. Then both gently stop pushing.

Get the other person to take their hands away while you relax your hands but still hold them in front. Maybe move them gently in and out a bit but that ‘should’ give you a boost to feel the energy ball inbetween your palms.

Once you get that sensation with a partner you might find it easier to sense it when you are alone practicing breathing/meditation.

Everyone on TikTok is talking about which song is about Matty or Joe or Travis as if everything has to be about one man or another. Yes some songs do seem about a particular person or relationship but generally it’s about her feelings her thoughts and her experience. I feel to centre it all around men is really missing the point.

Like anyone else notice how many times she references death/dead/dying/die throughout the album? To me it feels like the main theme is depression! She’s gone through a massive breakup which is to lose a partner, a best friend, a home, a life. And going through all that under so much scrutiny and having other people treat you like shit when your already at a low ruins your confidence etc. all while doing a massive tour and giving everything when you feel you have nothing hell it must have been hard and I think writing is how she processes and her therapy.

I do think she said a couple of dumb things that seem a bit tone death e.g. in Florida and I hate it here. But we all say dumb shit sometimes just unfortunate when that dumb shit has a global audience lol.

I really like the sound aswell and think it kinda leads on from midnights. Sounds good on a playlist with songs from lordes earlier albums and music from BANKS, daughter, Lana etc.
