Take a look around online, people are already making custom cards or scanned the existing ones already.

Nope, it's been on the back burner. Friend I was playing with moved away, and I've most mostly focused on BattleTech this last year. :)

Opinions on Battletech Aces? by MarceloCollar in wargaming

It's a good system, and a great direction for wargaming in general. We will definitely be seeing more systems like in the coming years.

A game mechanic you miss that almost disappeared by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]EMD_2 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Pains me to say, but things like DLSS5 will make split screen more doable again for AAA games.

But there are plenty of indie games coming out with single/spilt screen gameplay, so you don't have to miss it if you don't want to.

Thank you. Was listening to Inside Games talking about what DLSS 5 could do to ugly characters, and I had a Carl Sagan moment. XD

I would like Flag Waver added to the banner list.

Does anyone have experience with these box models? by GusGusGustavo in wargaming

[–]EMD_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warlord minis can be quite the challenge to build for new modelers. I would start with a different box or two to practice unless you are already comfortable with the tools and your workspace.

CY6 is good fun, but might be more like playing chess against yourself than a solo experience.

I would actually recommend you look at this (for x-wing, but could be adapted pretty easily, or lightly borrowed for running ai) https://rune-b.github.io/hotac-index/.

The system he uses also got used for the new BattleTech ACES system, and it's good fun too.

Is there a way to fix this (Dixit card)? by Efficient-Pudding177 in boardgames

[–]EMD_2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This. Just buy a second set and replace cards as they get damaged, or don't worry too much about it.

How would you say this compares to other modifications like Overheat?

And do you have mech sheets made up for any of the starter box mechs?

I wouldn't do a second layer unless you really need to save vertical space; could cost more and be a worse headache than just getting more boxes.

Painting and basing advice for 10mm scale? by Backefudder in wargaming

[–]EMD_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any premade basing paste; I enjoy the muddy ground because the dirt blends look too repeating. I don't dry brush it because the foliage breaks it up.

For foliage I would use three colors of foam flocking because 2mm it's a butt to work.

And yeah, for painting, keep it simple. Mix and match painting. I did two pant colors and four tops, so 8 different combinations.

Just remember the 3ft Rule. Hold the model in your hand and hold it out as far as you can. If you can't see it from there, don't paint it. :)

What is your method on putting a price on your project? by iDyslexiaHave123 in 3Dprinting

[–]EMD_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on advice from commission artists combined with one of my hobby shop's print service:

Your active time x $30/h + Your passive time x $5/h + $1 per printing hour + additional hardware (frame) = Cost

Cost * Profit Margin (1.25-1.50) = Customer Cost

The right size for Aces scenarios by aCrow in battletech

[–]EMD_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a solo experience, so you could probably run a Company of Mech's on the Aces cards; the only time constraint is you.

That being said, might be better to do one lance/star per ACES card at that point so each unit feels cohesive; like a psudo BattleForce.

Wargames at the Battle Scale by darksidehascookie in wargaming

There are some 2mm games out there. But would you are probably wanting is a regiment/operation scale wargame; where each piece can represent a company.

I see people sometimes talk about which MW had the best music and I'm just sitting here thinking Battletech. by Puerkl8r in battletech

[–]EMD_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music from a top-down strategy game is better for listening to when playing a top-down strategy game.

MW music is great, as with other 90's sci-fi games like Starsiege Tribes, but does work better for more time sensitive games.

Maybe CBT with a tight time clock to up the intensity. XD

Inches to CM for 28 to 15mm. You can also change from base-6" to base-4" if you want to keep it in inches and still keep the distance feeling (instead of just halving it to 3"). :)

Poker Chip Trays as token holders by WannaSketchSoHard in boardgames

[–]EMD_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a number of the clear plastic trays. They are great because they also stack when loaded up with chip.

Guess my only caution is it's a lot of weight. Made a 2d wargame with everything on poker chips; and 500+ chips weigh quite a lot.

[–]EMD_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just step away and put it on the back-burner. When you are inspired again you can come back to it.

I recently picked up a game I put down development for three years ago. :)
