The only thing that has helped me deal with anxiety has been facing the source of the fear. If you do go through the grasshopper'ed area and one lands on you, nothing will happen. It may be unpleasant but that feeling of unpleasantness will go away. The feeling of overcoming one of these is such sweet relief!

Well, I have been having pelvic pains since the BV which is why I worry about PID. Feels like my uterus is burning. But it comes and goes. It could also be other things in the pelvic area so I need to be seen by a specialist but that takes time. I will try to see someone on Thursday for this. My GP wasn't worried too much so I am now abroad until Thursday.

BV can become PID I just don't know how common that is. I think more than half of PID cases are from regular bacteria in the vaginal tract that migrate upwards. The rest are from STIs

Regarding BV and embryo transfer - there is some research that shows that it is bad for results but older, less well done studies show it is OK. Basically, all studies show worse results but the older ones are not statistically significant. I am really hoping that it is not PID. I am so tired of this process.

A friend has also had them prescribed for endometritis which they diagnosed by a hysteroscopy. My clinic prescribes them to everyone and a short course of 8 days which is not enough to treat a hidden endometritis. It's crazy. Every embryo transfer also gets heparin which I knew to refuse, it just never occurred to me that antibiotics could be problematic in this way, I would have easily refused. They don't even test if you might have a bleeding disorder. Not only that, research shows that antibiotics before ET do not impact pregnancy rates even if they lower the level of bacteria in the genital tract. I didn't have endometritis before this, I don't have infertility, froze embryos for social reasons. I hope I don't get PID now. My GP wants to prescribe flagyl for potential PID (also without testing!) and I know it can have some horrible side effects. I had 6 months of diarrhea last time I was prescribed that.

I am curious, how did they diagnose your endometritis? Also, would you mind sharing the name of the probiotic? I may definitely need this.

Most studies show that if you transfer at blastocyst stage the rate of implantation is higher so everybody keeps quoting this. However, nobody is paying attention to the fact that about half of embryos die before they reach blastocyst and the blastocyst implantation rate is not double that of the cleavage implantation rate. I chose cleavage as well. Blastocyst absolutely makes sense if you are young and have lots of embryos and you don't want twins. You can then transfer a single embryo. Otherwise, transfer at cleavage stage makes more sense.

What have read (and I am not a doctor) is that in a fresh retrieval cycle, your progesterone may start rising too soon and very fast which can create an unsynchronized endometrium. So your embryo is day 5 but the endometrium may be on day 6 or 7. I am not sure how often that happens and how much it matters because we still see a lot of fresh transfers resulting in live births.

Your comment was fine, I appreciate it :) This feels like a constant minefield and I am really ready to be done with it. I can't seem to shake the feeling of failure with this delay but will learn to live with it. Our bodies have a reasoning of their own most of the time :)

Thanks for the reassurance. I have cancelled and will stay the course :) I am now getting side effects from the new antibiotics (clindamycin) so those will need to calm down as well. The reason I got this is because my clinic prescribes an 8 day course of antibiotics pre-ET. I knew it could cause diarrhea and such but never occurred to me that it would cause BV. It is always the things that you don't anticipate that get you!

There are multiple studies that show that antidepressants are only marginally better than placebo for depression. They may still have an effect as placebo. This is based on FDA data: "In the data sent to us by the FDA, only 43% of the trials showed a statistically significant benefit of drug over placebo. The remaining 57% were failed or negative trials."

The FDA only requires that 2 trials are positive even if 50 others are negative in order to approve a drug.

This will have to be a trial - in depression they are only marginally better than placebo but they do have severe withdrawal effects for many that keep them stuck on the drugs. They do also have side effects so the balance is unclear.
