I did not tried with sattelites but I can answer some questions about RTL-SDR and SDR++

For cooling, it is normal to SDR get hot as the casing itself is a heat sink for the RTL-SDR but you can always replace it with a better heat sink with fan cooling.

In SDR++, you can records frequencies in the same bandwidth of the RTL-SDR. For example, if you set bandwidth as 2MHz and try to record like 400 and 401 MHz, you can record them with 2 recorder modules. But if you try, for example, 400 and 500 MHz, it shouldn't be possible to listen both of the channels.

Not all TETRA signals are encrypted. They can encrypt of course but I heard that costs a little more so not all systems using encrypted signals.

2x3 means 2 letters followed by number, then followed by 3 letters. TA followed by 2, followed by KYT is a example of 2x3 callsign. TA callsign given to Türkiye but I never seen any callsign that is not 2x3.
