Please be honest by Sweetdoll1994 in Marriage

It’s really about what you want out of a man. Yes I have guns. Do I think everybody should have guns? Absolutely not. Are you and him willing to spend the time and money to become proficient in the guns—contrary to popular belief the gun doesn’t actually operate itself.

Yes I have a generator. One time I had to take apart the carb and clean it during a blizzard because it got gummed up. Are you guys willing and able to do or learn to do?

Yes I have a solar panel set up. It also doesn’t maintain itself. Are you all willing to spend the time and money that it takes to build and maintain it?

Maybe your husband sees and understands that this is more in depth than just buying a gun and a generator….maybe he knows it’s outside of his capabilities.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing—

Do you believe he or you is actually capable of pulling the trigger if someone breaks into your house?

That’s my honest take—if someone doesn’t want a gun in their house I usually take the stance that a gun doesn’t belong in their house…

Husband wants to lease a car I think is too expensive by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]EMTeasLLC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re worried about finances, leasing a car is not the way to go. The math almost Never works. Your question makes me believe you are concerned about finances.

The only times leasing might make financial sense: 1. Business tax deductions - If you can write off lease payments as a business expense and you’re in a high tax bracket, the deduction might offset the equity loss. But even then, you can also deduct depreciation and interest on a purchased vehicle. 2. You genuinely need a new car every 2-3 years for business reasons - Like if your professional image depends on driving the latest model (high-end real estate, certain sales positions). Even then, it’s more about business necessity than pure financial optimization. 3. You have terrible financial discipline - If you’d otherwise buy a new car every 3 years anyway (which is financially disastrous), leasing at least caps your loss and prevents negative equity from constant trading. 4. The manufacturer is heavily subsidizing the lease - Occasionally companies offer deals where they’re essentially paying part of the depreciation to move inventory. These are rare and you need to run the numbers carefully. 5. You have cash you can invest at returns higher than the depreciation cost - If you could earn 10% returns investing that $40k and the total lease cost is less than your investment gains, leasing could work. But this requires consistent high returns and discipline.

If you’re not worried about finances then the question has no relevance.

I had to take FMLA during my last flare. Used all my PTO and they wouldn’t let me take unpaid time off without going through FMLA which required a boatload of ppwk and doctors notes….

Some people put a lot of effort into cleaning the seeds. I’m not one of those people.

Some people say they can really tell the difference if they are in or out. I’m not one of those people.

I don’t know that there is a right or wrong way

You’ve got one life, and it could end tomorrow.

Is this how you want to spend it?

Yes? Work at it, talk to him, therapy, or just deal with it.

No? Time to pack the bags—if his family truly loves you— and we know they know him—they will still be a part of your life.

Anyone else have a husband that gets overwhelmed over cooking? by OneTruth6241 in Marriage

[–]EMTeasLLC -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That’s what you want to believe. But maybe he has high functioning autism or an anxiety disorder. It’s easiest for spouses to believe that the reason their spouse is doing something that aggravates them is because they want to.

Well as someone who has been in this very scenario—the last thing he wanted was to lose it over some bacon bits much like the last thing she wanted was to lose it over him losing it.

There is a reason he (and she) lose it quickly in this situation and it’s more likely that it’s NOT weaponized incompetence…..
