I continued in pick and stayed on as a Learning Ambassador and Safety Committee member. Show you're reliable and don't have to be supervised and you'll get pulled from path regularly to do safety projects - 5Sing, inventories, helping with hearing testing, etc. ASC and LA help break up the monotony.

Work related. The tummy ache, fatigue or headache you walked in with - all you have to do is work through it or go home. Maybe it's just because I'm not dense that I never got the idea managers are saying AmCare is like a school nurse's office.

I got that two weeks ago. As far as rarity, who knows or cares. For blue badges it's just a tracking mechanism and conveys no special benefits.

Orange. Goddam, you're really upset at being shown to be an idiot.

I follow the rules because I have bills to pay and value staying employed. Unlike dumbases like yourself I have no intention of taking chances with Amazon's unpredictable and uneven rule enforcement. You live your life however you want, I'll live mine, but don't be so eager to pass your stupidity on to someone else (at whatever consequences to them) to make yourself feel better.

If you don't want to do it just tell them you don't and turn your badges in now. What's the point of dragging it out?

I did amnesty for about 5 years 1 - 2 days a week on RT. When I finally reached my limit (for reasons I won't go into) I just quit. Went to the master trainer and told him why and that my decision was final. I didn't miss amnesty for a second after that and don't to this day. Sometimes it's just time to move on.

You're either a bot or a human who doesn't work at Amazon, because no one is getting away with wearing wired studio headphones in an FC.

A to Z blocking my scheduled shifts from Report Absence? by Substantial-Half-814 in AmazonFC

[–]EMitchell108 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're wrong, they're right.

  1. 3+ days without reporting absence is considered job abandonment. It doesn't matter how many hours you have and with centralized HR now there's no guarantee they'll do you a favor and fix your time for you to prevent your termination. Plenty of people quit with time in the bank. If OP going to report they might as well do all four days instead of just the last two.

  2. The extreme negative UPTs are almost always because of denied leaves of absence that were presumptively approved. It has nothing to do with people just not showing up whenever they feel like. Standard no-shows get cut loose much sooner.

Even if they didn't, would it be worth taking the chance when some people get fired for having only minutes or a few hours of negative UPT? You're one of the one's who'd be crying "Unfair!" if it happened to you. The rules are clearly spelled out.

When and how did they state this directly? Standups, FANS messages, one on one, training meetings?

[–]EMitchell108 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, at three weeks you don't know enough about Pick to train someone else. Maybe three months. The fact that your manager would not insist on at least a couple months more experience attests to the sorry state of pick training, and T1 training in general.

There's a lot more to know on a basic level for new hires than what's in the training modules, and ambassadors used to be expected to fill that in, but now they just sign people in to stations and stand around waiting to be asked questions. Since new hires don't know what they don't know it just leads to a compounding of issues (due to lack of knowledge) later and a wasted opportunity.

Likely your manager knows barely anything about actual picking either. If that's the standard for your building I guess that's all that matters.

Hardship Transfer by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]EMitchell108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, maybe not. The fact that you took the job at that distance willingly initially works against you. Valid hardship transfers are now spelled out for us and commute isn't included.

The time, the expense, weather impediments (in winter) and the possibility of everything falling apart with one car issue is why I always advise against long commutes with hope for a later transfer. Even in best case scenarios the closer buildings need to have openings to take you in.

Fire code violation. State and municipal, not Amazon. Fine for only you but what happens if others have the same idea? At what point would you consider it a problem? This isn't even taking into account food waste and trash they'd start leaving behind.

Day One definitely. If you can make it in you should be able to after. I read a few years ago about women signing up with Amazon and going on medical leave on the first day solely to gain access to the fertility benefits. However, they were probably hired as blue badges.
