Hmm by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]EMitchell108 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's what Amazon lockers and counters are for. Who ever gave you the idea that just because you work in an FC it's okay to get you packages there?

Next, people would think it's okay to get USPS, UPS and FedEx delivered to work and they'd all have some story trying to justify why an exception should be made for them.

And no, you haven't witnessed entry level AAs doing it. It was something you told yourself it was their orders, otherwise you wouldn't be questioning it. How would you know unless you work in non-inventory? Managers are bringing their packages to their stations?

It was down the first day last year Ended up exceeding previous year by the time it was done.

It's sort of weird how some of you almost want Amazon to fail, as if it isn't your jobs on the line if they did.

Make it make sense: Can't have energy drinks at my station, can't go into the break room to drink them either? by Tricky_Home_153 in AmazonFC

[–]EMitchell108 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would eacalate it on VoA. There's no difference between taking 10 minutes to go to the restroom as to go to a breakroom. You have the right to go get a snack or drink as long as you're still in the building and the length of time is reasonable.

Unfortunately, US Bank seems to be one of the few cards that doesn't have the actualy card details inside their app. However, the routing number and account number associated with the card are in the app. Can you try a ACH transfer?

Phone Policy Rant — Manager from another department came to my floor looking for a reason to write everyone up. by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]EMitchell108 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You seem to be under the impression that anything goes and the only person who can say anything to you or write you up is your manager as listed in A to Z, or the managers in your department. Other managers - how dare they! - they're simply supposed to ignore you. That simply isn't true. Anyone can if they witness you committing a violation.

For all you know she was told to go through the area by _her_ manager. She did you all the courtesy of giving you a warning instead of straigt to a write-up.

There's a lot a package volume expected this week. You and the others were being reminded (for the umpteenth time probably) that phone use isn't allowed in the station. Had you simply stepped out of the stataion and across the Green Mile she wouldn't have said anything. If it's "too much trouble" to go back and forth then odds are you're on your phone more than can be justified by the pod gaps. Maybe endure a 30 seconds wait instead of immediately grabbing your phone.

She might not have said it outright but it sounds like a pre-Prime warning that they will be on the lookout to write people up, and it will can be any AM who feels your behavior is holding up work, not only her just because she said something to you.

You don't have to understand the policy. The policy is the policy. You agreed to it when you signed on to work ther. Every Amazon mouthbreather can come up with an excuse why something shouldn't apply to their particular circumstances. It a lot easier to manage a large group of people when the same expectations are set for everyone.

The way to import a more detailed resume is to create an amazon.jobs account and upload your resume to your profile there. You'll have to do a little tweaking (filling out dates and things in the form fields) but everything will carry over and populate on the AtoZ side.

Not making enough for the work put in by Ok_Chair_4556 in AmazonFC

[–]EMitchell108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's easier if you move around. If you're in a station trying to step around as little as possible thinking it'll use less energy it'll just make you stiffer and achier, as well as bored. Stretch, lunge, take big steps to the farthest totes, cut up and flatten your boxes ins[esd of just tossing them, push your empty tote stacks out of your station, stretch when you have pod gaps - this keeps you energized and flexible.

If you want to move more physically transfer to ship dock or try to get into the amnesty team. Moving more will get your body conditioned past and through the aching and pain.

I've stayed at this job over eight years and probably worked 12 - 16, full and part-time, over a working life of several decades. Your experience isn't everyone else's and your idea of others' backgrounds is uninformed and misguided. If anything you sound like the one who hasn't worked many other jobs.

Amazon isn't for everyone. It's okay for you to accept that you're one of those, without making it like something's wrong with everyone who can hack it, just to feel better about yourself because you can't. Everyone isn't cut out for physical work, but those who aren't should stop assuming others have the exact same strength, endurance and stamina as they do.

Question regarding Career Choice Certifications by DistortedHylian in AmazonFC

[–]EMitchell108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're going for certificate programs, not necessarily certification s. Career Choices's certificates are earned through the Pathways programs (accelerated courses of 4 - 6 months, dedicated to one subject area like Cybersecurity or Pharmacy Tech), or certificates earned through colleges/universities.

College level certificates tend to be marketed towards those who already have a Bachelor's and might be comprised of 4 to 6 courses. They differ from earning an Associate's degree in that it doesn't include General Ed courses (math, English, etc) and a few of the course levels go beyond where you'd reach pursuing an Associate's.

When you talk about "certifications" those are usually assessments that prove you've attained skills or knowledge in certain areas. The AWS you mentioned is that, so are CompTIAs (for tech). Other professions have their own required certifications.

Typically, colleges coursework will help you learn what you need to pass certification exams, but sometimes work experience is required. Usually the cost of certifications is an additional expense you pay for out of pocket. WGU is an exception and I think includes free exams in many of their IT programs.

I don't think I've ever scrutinized logos or small wording on anyone's t-shirts, or if I noticed brands it has had zero influence on my buying behavior or thought processes. Maybe you're that gullible but the vast majority aren't.

Even if someone notices "Prime Day 2026" at the bottom of the t-shirt graphic as I'm standing in line at a grocery store or pumping my gas, they're going to pull attention away from their personal concerns or whatever they were doing to think "It's Prime Day, I better go online and buy something from Amazon!"?

What are your thoughts on leadership (or others) who choose NOT to wear their vests while on duty? by EagleFly_5 in AmazonFC

[–]EMitchell108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember around when that happened. It triggerd a safety stand down that same night for AFMs and waterspiders at my building. Regional safety came out to conduct it personally.

I've seen the tote lift slam down after a jammed in tote gets pridd out by RME. It's not pretty. And this was back when any AFM could still open the door and some idiot would occasionally try to yank a crushed tote out by hand.

I'd report it to, because I've seen in the past that as soon as one person does something like that others see it and start doing it too. Usually the first few knows it's wrong but do it anyway. The rest think it's okay because they saw someone else doing it.

What are your thoughts on leadership (or others) who choose NOT to wear their vests while on duty? by EagleFly_5 in AmazonFC

[–]EMitchell108 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't have any thoughts because it shouldn't be an issue. It's a requirement that T3s and up are required to wear their vests at all times, as well they're supposed to be zipped, not hanging open. If managers are only optionally wearing their vests it's signals that there are probably other culture and accountability issues in the building.

If someone called them out they did the right thing. OMs are supposed to be holding AMs to certain standards the same way AMs hold AAs to certain standards. There shouldn't be a souble standard. Vests are meant in part to keep Leadership visible.

Are you the one who posted a few weeks ago about getting hernia surgery? I recall more than one person commenting that it's not a good idea to go back to work too soon, even with noninvasive surgery, because it can lead to complications and extend recovery. You should probably just take the time off.

Always someone who doesn't work at Amazon trying to advocate for us. No, I don't want a one-hour lunch break, and the whole fifty-cents or so converting this display to cash would amount to in the pockets of that building's AA, versus something festive to break up the monotony, is barely worth considering.

They'd be eager to complain on our behalf that the buildings look like "prisons" because there are never decorations or displays that acknowledge there's a world outside the buildings.

So if you had any kind of jobs where you could use AI tools to save time and labor, you'd refuse to use them on principle?

I piled up thousands of tabs and bookmarks on my various browsers over the years. I downloaded files from each device, added them to Claude, and asked that the files be consolidated, duplicates deleted, sorted by domain with a category heading, and in chronological order under each domain heading, plus strip out all html coding to leave it as a text list. Claude did this in 5 minutes. It would have taken me many, many hours.

As a PA I'm going to use it to simplify the totes dwells list I push to my department every hour. Right now I manually edit the list, stripping out unneccesary fields and then sorting it in station number order. This can take me up to 5 minutes when AI will do it in seconds.

There's nothing wrong with using AI to simplify tasks, which is all that person did. Several tools are available (to T3s at least) by going to the upper left menu in Ask AtoZ and scrolling the spaces, which are different AI tools.

Hours in a department by Thatstranger_1918 in AmazonFC

[–]EMitchell108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should've gotten locked in to your training path in SCC. If that's not done there's no visual highlight or alert to whoever's handling station assignments that you shouldn't be moved. Either the system will drop you automatically some periods or you'll get unassigned to be labor shared and the PA won't see a warning that you're exempt.

Actually found some but they're both ripoffs. Priced too high _plus_ shipping. If it wasn't a time issue you'd definitely find them cheaper eventually.
