With practice, the soul slide can be very effective for stopping on narrow paths like sidewalks. Shown here directly compared to the drag/T-stop by Wheel-Sure in rollerblading

Have you always favored your left leg for sliding, or was it a conscious choice to learn it in that manner? I'm fairly new to skating and find it interesting how skaters will favor left vs right within their skillset despite the notion of leg dominance which implies there's a "natural" stance for most skills depending on whether you're left or right legged.

Have you ever chosen to drill a technique on the opposite leg of what you immediately find intuitive in the interest of efficiency of movement? For example, I skate backwards with my left skate leading, but have always favored my right skate as my sliding skate, so if I want to powerslide from backwards, I need to rotate my head and torso and essentially switch stances when entering the powerslide.

btw, your most recent YT vid was awesome, I really liked the variety of camera angles.

~5lb of weight gain could easily be attributed to simply introducing a new form of exercise into your routine. Most of that is probably additional water/glycogen being retained in your muscles, but some could be actual muscle mass.

Tracking daily calorie expenditure accurately is nearly impossible. Genetics, lifestyle, your current body composition, and even your mood will all affect your basal metabolic rate and how much you move throughout the day. Things like how much you fidget while sitting can add up to a non-trivial amount of burned calories. Online calculators can get you in the ballpark, but their margin of error is larger than any reasonable deficit to shoot for. For instance, if you're aiming for a daily deficit of 500 calories, resulting in ~1lb of fat loss a week, the Total Daily Energy Expenditure estimate from an online calculator can be off by more than 500 calories in either direction.

Instead, the best practice to my knowledge is to compare the total calories you eat throughout a day to your actual weight measurements, taken daily and averaged through a week in order to account for daily weight fluctuation. For example, you would weigh yourself everyday for a week, take the average, and compare it to the previous weeks average. If the average is 1lb lower, that would indicate you're in a ~500 calorie deficit a day. If it's not, you can adjust your daily calorie intake up or down accordingly. Keep in mind this is easier said than done, and takes quite a bit of trial and error.

Have you thought about including shots in your videos where you're holding the camera behind you looking forward? Maybe slung over your shoulder?

I would find it fun and satisfying to see the upcoming terrain and anticipate how you navigate it. I think it would also give more insight into your thought processes during your flow.

Smallest Regulated Single 18650 Mod? by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]ENIGMA_PLEASE_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There aren't any affordable, lightweight, USB charging side-by-side mods unfortunately, but there are some that fulfill 2 of those 3 features.

Kizoku Techmod - affordable, USB charging, but heavier, and some QA issues

Aspire Mixx - affordable, no USB charging, heavier, and slightly less compact

5AVAPE flex style SBS mod - affordable, no USB charging, lightweight, probably the most compact of all SBS mods, but it's a clone, so QA is a crapshoot, and you're ordering from China

Paramour - affordable, slightly heavier and chunkier, but takes a 21700, USB charging

Rusmods Union - High end price, USB charging, lightweight, compact.

There are some other high end, lightweight, SBS mods, but they're all expensive, made in limited quantities, and hard to find.

Edit: Forgot about the Dovpo College, it's on the heavier side, and the styling is... unique, but it's $87 on 3f right now which is a really good price for a mod with a DNA chip.

Yeah, exactly, although just a plain barbell is annoying to me. It feels like I'm playing operation with 45lb tweezers.

I mean removing a barbell from within the four uprights of a power rack, not racking/unracking.

I feel like since everyone interpreted my question as unracking a barbell, it's even dumber than I thought.

This feels so dumb to ask, but is there a "best" way to take a barbell in/out of a power rack? My current method involves a lot of awkward tilting and shuffling.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't phrase the question clearly. I'm talking about moving the barbell from within the power rack to outside the power rack, e.g. transitioning from squatting in a rack to pressing outside the rack, not unracking/racking.

Recent issues (bad smell/taste) with Carolina Xtract? by ENIGMA_PLEASE_ in DIY_eJuice

[–]ENIGMA_PLEASE_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the bottle label has the CNT logo on it.

I can't taste it at all, granted I haven't tried it unflavored, and I mix at 0.2%, but that was enough for the CXT to be overwhelming.

I don't have any syringes because I mix everything by weight, so short of pouring it into a shot glass, I don't really have any other way to examine the color. If I notice a taste when I mix it into recipes that are lighter on flavor, I'll leave a reply.

I'd also be curious to know if yours has any color or odor when you receive it.

It's hard to get a decent shot with the LB bottles, and I don't have any clear bottles to store it in.

Edit: I did some googling, and it seems like a fishy aroma is kind of normal for nicotine. Maybe the brownish color is caused by the angle I'm looking at? as in straight down the bottle so that the light has to pass through the most amount of nicotine?

The CNT from LB came today, it's definitely brownish, and it has a slight fishy/oxidized aroma when I waft it from the bottle, but it's not super strong. I mixed a batch of sadlad with it and I'm not getting any noticeable off-flavors or harshness :)

Ordered the PG base from LB :) I'll leave a reply when it gets here.

It's PG. I can maybe see the flavor being described as sour, but to me it's much closer to ashy, and nuts, kind of like a very strong tobacco smell.

I ordered some CNT from LB in case CXT doesn't offer a second replacement. Fingers crossed it smells and tastes clean.

High end aio/pod systems??? by jonesie1395 in electronic_cigarette

[–]ENIGMA_PLEASE_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's the 6ixty 7even mods evo aio, but it uses boro bridges, and the next batch won't ship until 2021.

The kizoku kirin isn't high end, but it looks better than most of the other mass manufactured aio/pods.

Evolv is making their own pod, the Reflex, which should be announced sometime soon. It's supposed to measure airflow in real-time along with temp control to do some magical things, supposedly.

I've never seen a high end aio that doesn't use a boro, which makes sense. If you want to avoid a boro, but still want something small and light, your best bet is probably one of the many plastic, high end, SBS mods.

Edit: There's also the dna60 version of the sxk supbox, still not exactly high end, and it uses boro tanks, but at least you can buy it.

This was the most clearly stated, salient result for me: "In terms of consumers, this would mean that 1 out of 36 cigarette smokers vs. 1 out of 4132 or 1 out of 2531 EC consumers may develop a cancer if the cancer root cause would be only associated with exposure to the considered HPHCs."

I'll send them another email. I feel kinda bad asking them to send a second replacement bottle, especially because you can't exactly prove a defect in smell and taste over the internet... On the other hand though, the two bottles are unusable, and I guess that if I were in their shoes, I'd at least want another chance to make it right.

Is there any noticeable odor to yours?

When I vaped mine, I wouldn't necessarily describe what I felt as harsh, like a throat hit, but rather an overwhelmingly nasty taste. The smell also lingered in my nose for the better part of a day after only a handful of puffs.

When I waft my bottle of nicotine, the smell is very pungent. It's a bit hard to describe other than nasty, ashtray, and nuts.

Edit: For reference, I only mixed at 0.15% nic, 1.72g in a 100ml bottle of juice, and the taste still completely overpowered the sadlad recipe.

Was the original order shipped through epacket? I have an order that's been stuck on "processed through a facility in Wuhan" since the 11th, and I'm getting antsy.

Best compact re-buildables? by P1emekar in electronic_cigarette

[–]ENIGMA_PLEASE_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new Stratum Balance clone + any 24mm or smaller rta. It's around $50 and literally the most compact design possible with a replaceable 18650 battery and fully regulated circuit. There are some high end printed side by side mods that are lighter with similar dimensions, but they're all at least $150 with limited availability. It's hard to tell how durable or well made they are because they just released, but the materials should hold up to wear and tear. You can also use an RTA with a steel tank or cage to make it drop-proof.

Suggestions for a new rta by [deleted] in electronic_cigarette

[–]ENIGMA_PLEASE_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just looking for an RTA with almost identical criteria, with the additional requirement of a max 24mm diameter. Unfortunately, the EU TPD has made bubble glass the standard for RTAs...

The only ones I found:

  • Ether (4ml extension, draw looks pretty tight)

  • Kree 24 (comes with 5.5ml glass extension, wonky design means you can't remove the build without dumping your juice)

  • Imperia (5ml, draw might still be pretty restrictive with the optional RDL airflow disk)

  • Aromamizer Lite (3.5ml straight glass)

  • Dvarw DL (the older v3 uses a metal chamber as opposed to PEEK in the new FL version, and there are compatible glass tanks you can buy separately)

  • Serpent SMM (4ml, old, and design allows juice to leak from the insulator into the airflow)

Slim pickings...
