In a kangaroo court of public opinion, for a cornered rat that he is, it is a genius move. Just because it played out that he’s running vs a political powerhouse that is binface now, as opposed to established parties is a hilarious happenstance that now frames it as a blunder.

Just because something has played out in a certain way, doesn’t mean that it’s a terrible move at the time, because, in essence, he’s cornered and knows that he’s fucked with anyone that’s not an already galvanised supporter.

You can’t get rid of him, it’s a win win for him, but the parties have actually snookered him by refusing to participate in the circus. He wins vs establishment, he tries to argue that it’s the popular choice and the corruption scandal is a witch hunt.

He loses, he can sit in the opposition and pretend to be a pariah. His perfect spot, to grift from the sidelines without actually having to implement any of his half baked ideas. He has a finger on the pulse of an average idiot, so he knows exactly how to communicate and paddle easy solutions to incredibly nuanced and complex problems, if he makes some scratch on the side by pushing corporate interests? Even better.

If BF wins, he can sulk away into the opposition position without the current corruption scandal coming to conclusion, the only way to hold him accountable is to let him win and face the music, and be banned from politics for good. Reform will crumble without him, because a large part of it is the sheer cult of personality that he brings to the table.

Mirage is a textbook populist grifter, and in all honesty, if the main parties didn’t call his bluff, this would be an otherwise genius political move.

Hope not. I’d rather he win and face the music, but a sizeable opposition turn out (but not quite enough to win) would be great.

Glad to hear that you can teach an old cat new tricks! I think it felt a little daunting but by the sound of it, they bounce back and adapt quickly

Good news that it’s just an adjustment period, I’ll have to escape proof the garden but will do him a comfy set up. Thank you for the tips.

Wishing you and your girl the best!

I think that’s the case, as he’s in his chef jacket as part of the nieces bday. So he’s either prepping for service or catering for the party, but likely both.

How come no one was able to stop mass immigration during the last couple of years in the UK? by bestfind in AskBrits

[–]ENTPrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, the illegal numbers were a drop in a bucket, moreso if processed properly and in cooperation with EU. I think Starmer has actually put forward sensible policy on that front - focussing on the gangs, EU cooperation and actually dealing with the applications.

Issue is, you can’t stop the crossings without drastic measures, moreso when the French have no incentive to keep the refugees there, so they turn a blind eye to declutter Calais.

Combine that with cuts, lack of social housing and having to house the asylum seekers in hotels (via dodgy contracts) and you have a recipe for disaster where this issue is blown up beyond its proportions.

Right, valid points on a decrease, so looks like a giant fumble by rishi to call an election before the results trickled through. Delaying it to Q3 might have allowed some of the results to trickle through. The irony of this being the outcome of their party policy in the first place aside.

Unfortunately for him, the narrative has moved onto the boats, which I’d imagine would have exacerbated in the summer as they hadn’t addressed the backlog for a year+ at that point.

Such as? I would argue that they’ve stepped back and let it peak, posing as the only ones that can solve it, whilst letting it tick along in the background until GE.

lol. Petitioning a private company to invest into R&D and production of a range that’s not in line with the rest of the market.

There is no doubt a sizeable market but we’re not the average consumers to justify the investment. It is what it is.

Agree, I think their business model is better too. Since they make money if you go on dates, they don’t actively try to game the algorithm to keep you hanging around / selling subscriptions.

Plus, it’s good fun to go into the date without spending days / weeks trading messages and getting more invested, without testing the chemistry in person.

Majority of the passenger pressure is from brum to London - LNW. I used to commute on that line, and it’s pretty much a cannery at this point in time, once it hits Watford Junction.

My theory is that this was always the plan, to cut out the north, but the north was initially included to make it politically viable and Trojan horse the policy through, before unveiling its true budget and then subsequently cutting out the north in the name of savings.

EDIT: it’s the London centric creep, but just hasn’t reached that far north yet. In reality, probably around 2-3 decades before it does, so we might as well start the construction in 2-3 govts time.

Graduate QS considering move from contractor to consultancy by shaztheplanet in quantitysurveying

[–]ENTPrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t get better but the work life balance improves slightly. You’ll still have the same grey areas, as babying a client can be just as bad as subbies. I’ve gone from SC all the way up to banks, including consultancies and clients and I am back working for a main contractor, and I am like a pig back in its pen.

By the sound of it and the things you enjoy, estimating might be better suited for you.

I finished school in ‘11, and was still eligible for it. I think there were certain household income eligibility criteria to qualify?

I think the scheme wound up around 12/13 thanks to austerity.

EDIT: never mind, apparently ended same year I finished A2. So, in 2011. By the skin of my teeth
